Not Again
I don't know how this course was rated so highly. The care for the course was average at best. The pro shop staff was friendly and the driving range was poor. But the worse part of the course was that they didn't bother to inform me (anyone?) that the greens were being top-dressed with A LOT OF SAND, not just a dusting...then as we played the back-nine we ran into the grounds crew aerating (large holes) the greens. In almost 50-years of golfing I have never seen the greens top-dressed with sand AND THEN punched, this made the greens nearly unplayable. I had read that the greens were bad in the early spring, but were much better in the last month, I didn't get to observe any of that. I understand that this is required for good greens, but isn't it late in the year for this?
Also, there needs to be better communication with Golf Now as to the maintenance schedule for the greens...I would have played ANYWHERE else...
Memorial Day Weekend Round
The course has come a long ways since March/April. Greens that were in rough shape are now coming together nicely. Overall the condition is leaps and bounds ahead of we’re it was at to start the golfing season.
Best semi private course, in the neighborhood we enjoyed the hot deals. Will be back, Pro shop attendant was super nice, I was able to check in all 4 players with 2 carts, Thanks for everything.
Greens suck
Greens on a few holes had been re-sodded. The rest were horrible. Lots of patchwork. Not good.
Working on Greens
Currently Two holes on temporary greens while fixing existing. Really enjoy playing this course, good layout and very pleasant staff.
Poor course management!
Why would you charge $35.00 on a course that has 6 temporary greens. That is b.s. Also ahead of us there was 2 foursomes that we’re playing as eight people. People were rude and would not let’s us go through. Lack of course management! You need to tell people about the temporary greens before they play! It took us 5 and a half hours to play because of the eightsome play in front of us!
This course needs repair
I have golfed at CCA probably a dozen times and this time was by far the worst condition I have seen the course in.
I paid regular price for a round and 6 of the greens were under construction. I was offered no refunds and had to skip 3 holes, and 3 of them had holes created in the fairway.
I see why they need to do construction and re sodding of the greens because at some point they lost them. The greens were part dirt in some areas and they are re sodding them. The fairways were so dry and hard that a drive in the fairway would roll and roll and roll into the woods. I also had a shot hit the bunker and the bottom of the bunker was so hard it bounced out vertically and rolled into the water. I have never had a wedge shot land in the bunker only to bounce 15 feet high and out of the bunker into the water.
Also the ball washer on #18 was full of fire ants so when I washed the ball they swarmed out of the wash.
Maintenance has slipped, and it seems they are trying to work on it, but they are way behind.
Fairways are very hard not much turf.
Many of the Greens have NO gras only dirt!!!!
Slow pace poor condition
I can understand the poor course conditions but the pace of play is unacceptable. They needed a Marshall to encourage the two groups ahead of us to keep up or let us play through. No one was working the course. They also charged us after we had previously paid on GN.
Greta potential
The course has great potential, but with all th rain it’s taken on it’s just not in great shape. Lots of greens were under water for too long so they have either had temp greens or the greens are planned to be resodded. I’ve played it in good shape so this review is specifically for the current condition. By no means does it speak to the potential this course has.
Poor course conditions and untrained staff
I’ve played Country Club of Arkansas many times in the past and have always enjoyed the course and staff. I’m not sure what has changed here but, the course is really spiraling. There was a deer skeleton on one of the tee boxes. I guess maintenance staff hasn’t been around in weeks? How could this not have been cleaned up? Greens were in terrible conditions on most holes. The “bartender” didn’t know how to make the most basic drinks you would expect at a golf course. Overall pretty poor experience. This used to be one of the nicer courses. I don’t know how anyone would pay $250 for a membership here. Save your $60 green fees and play somewhere else.
Greens need some work
Overall, the course was great. Pin placements were friendly and some challenging. The staff was very friendly. The only area to improve would be green conditions. I am not sure what is going on with the greens some had some pretty bad dead spots. They have a temporary green on hole 2. Some greens were in great shape. While some you felt like you weren’t at the same course due to them being dead. Hopefully, with warmer weather and a nice spring they can bring them back.
Overpriced for the course condition
My friends and I have played CCA frequently over the years but lately the price to play is not worth the course condition. We have had a lot of rain but that is not the issue. I don't ever expect to pay $54 to plat a round on a course utilizing a temporary green that's a mowed circle with a flag in the ground 80 yards short of the normal green. Many of the greens were in poor condition. The course and staff are great but if using a temp green and other greens damaged, don't charge $54.
We’ll managed & maintained course
My friend and I really enjoy this course, it always in great shape and not overly busy. Excellent value for this quality is golf course.
Little soggy- greens disappointing
Historically this course has great greens as the jewel to a fun layout. Unfortunately that was not the case on this day. It was wet but the greens on 3 or 4 were so wet the grass was packed down and like putting on concrete.
