Stay away this year
Played here about a week ago and paid full green fee amount. Staff did not inform anyone that greens on over half of the holes are burnt beyond repair this season. Do yourself a favor and do not play this course until maybe next spring. Rate the greens a 2 out of 10. Terrible condition.
Poor conditions
The course is burnt up there are 8 greens that have little to no grass. You loose balls in fairways do to non mowing of the faculty. There is no food avaliable Would not recommend to anyone at any price as we were leaving another golf now user was trying to get a rain check to play at later date it is so bad
Greens in terrible shape
The course is a good layout and usually a good value for the money. But, this time the greens were terrible - no grass or very spotty and the fairways hadn't been mowed. Don't know if course is undergoing a change in management, but it is not working. Hate to see a nice course go down so much, so quickly.
Tall Grass
I find it very disturbing to hit a ball down the middle of the fairway and not be able to find it because the grass is to tall.
Not so much!
I like the lay-out for the most part. There were several greens that were almost unplayable. I played as a single behind several groups that were very slow and would not allow me to play through.
Ground Under Repair
A decent property for a course, but pretty rough condition. There were many areas of ground under repair, however there were times I thought the whole course should be marked that way.
They lost the greens
Have played the course numerous times. This was the first time this year. Some fungus or blight has caused the greens to be infected to a point that 50% of the green (on almost all of the holes) was un-putt-able.
I'll wait until next year to return.
My exact thoughts
The creek sneaks up on you
Normally the greens are in very good condition, but I guess there was a watering problem that hasn't been repaired just yet; hopefully back to normal soon. Overall, great price for a well designed out course.
Open
The course itself was beautiful and open. It is full of oak trees and squirrels and a creek runs through half of the course. The layout is a little odd, flip flops around quite a bit. The greens were burned and the fairways were soggy in spots, but I would play there again. It was very peaceful (except for the 8 pack with blaring radios who played a few holes and left). No one was behind us, there was no feeling of being rushed. It was the most peaceful course I've ever played!
Burned
Greens were in terrible shape
Unimpressed
Where to start..
Greens were burnt, dozens of patches throughout the greens were dead grass.
Greens were rock hard. You will not hold the greens. Nothing like hitting a 200 yard 5 iron at the pin to see it bounce way past the green. Same goes with a PW and 9 iron.
Area around the green was not kept well. Good luck chipping.
Anyone willing to pay $39 to play here is outrageous.
Course in good shape
There isn't much to be done about the layout here--it's way too much down and back and over the creek on the way to the green. And the greens were a little slow. But the course was in as good condition as I've ever seen it. The staff was friendly, and on a hot day there was plenty of water available on the course (in my opinion courses that don't provide water should be punished). Our group had a good time at Choctaw.
pretty golf course
difficult to get the ball to hold on the greens. overall the course was in great shape. fun course
Stay out of the creek
You cross the creek six times while playing along side it on two others. Trees can be in play on most holes with little relief from hard pan under them. Fairways are nominal width in decent shape. Firm smooth greens are always a step above other public courses in area.
Nice course enjoyable...
Nice no pressure coarse, just enjoyed the play. Good value for the money. Will recommend...
Early Golf Season
Overall excellent course to play. Not overly challenging, except for a couple of holes. Due to a freaky hot day in February and no cart person or water coolers filled made it a little hot to play. Normally the water is ice cold at each hole. Fun place to learn the game. You have some uphill holes and downhill holes also number 12 has a wicked right to left slant in fairway. Have played this course at least 2 dozen times in 3 years.
Great for price
Baught fees online. Got a great pricce. Have played this course many times. Only real complaint was there was nothing to eat except snack food. Course is redoing some cart path spots. This course is challenging with the creek intertwining through the course. Makes ball placement a necessity.
Horrible
Greens were like shag carpet. Sloow. Tee boxes were not level. If u miss the fairway, ur hitting off hard pan because they don't seed fescue under the trees. And there's a lot of trees. Which is fine if u have some kind of turf under them. They took out all the water jugs and no cart girl. If u like to get drunk and hit a ball this is the place for u. But if respect the game and play for love of the game, don't come here. It's an embarrassment. U would have to pay me to play there. The golf carts are all busted from the rough terrain and the paths are horrible as well. Won't be back.
We are sorry for your experience and thankful for the feedback. We are working on course conditions and hope to see you back in the future.
