Kingfisher is a quick, fun course
I picked up golf again this summer after about a 20 year break. Was looking for a low-key, enjoyable course to get back in the swing of things and Kingfisher is it.
I've played several rounds here and it's been enjoyable each and every time. The course is usually in really good shape (a few small issues with the greens being damaged on the front 9) , the pace of play is always wonderful. It's not a long or tough course, but enough of a challenge to keep you interested, especially if the wind is blowing like it often is.
There isn't a whole lot as far as amenities, but the staff is friendly, especially Gary, the manager. I have had a couple times where the guys rolling the greens or mowing around them have been oblivious to my presence, making it a little difficult for approach shots (not knowing where the hole is since they have the flag out), but I'd rather see someone taking care of the course than to not see anyone at all.
All in all, Kingfisher is my favorite place to play and I don't mind making the short trip from Piedmont, as I know it will be well worth it.
Hidden Gem
This course is in as good a shape as any course in a small town could be. Very open and playable. Great value. The staff is outstanding.
Kingfisher Golf Course Review
A great place to take someone who is learning the game. Very forgivable to that type of golfer. Took my 14 year old daughter who is learning the game. she had a great time and had 6 pars. The one complaint I had, which is not a major deal, they keep there greens very plush and don't mow them low. I think they were running about 7 on the stimpmeter. Other than that worth the investment.
Great Course.
One of my favorite courses within 50 miles of me. The course is never in bad condition. The front nine is pretty straight forward and still offers scoring opportunities despite the lack of a par 5. The back nine has two par 5s but is slightly more challenging. Greens were perfect with pretty difficult hole locations. I highly recommend this course.
Nice course
The course was in great shape. The greens were extremely soft and look fantastic. They did seem to be a little slow but pretty easy to read. All the recent rains have the fairways and even the rough with native grass looking good. Will definitely play again.
Great time!
The course was in really good shaped considering the amount of rainfall we've had recently. It's open fairways make it fun for beginners or younger golfers.
army vet
Very nice course, good value for the money, will definitely play this course again. The greens were excellent, just right!
Great Day of Golf
Course was in good shape, not crowded at all, and really enjoyed this course. Fun course with a few challenges. I liked the way each nine has a different look; the front 9 is older so big trees and smaller greens both posing challenges. The back nine has no big trees but some strategically placed water and the greens are bigger with undulations.
The price was excellent and we'll be teeing off there again real soon.
Wide Open
Really enjoyed the course. Not many places to get into trouble.
Kingfisher
This was a nice country course , they had just top seeded the greens so you had to deal with that but wasn't bad ! Overal great course for the price
Great short game course
I had not played this course for many years. In fact it was still a 9 hole course the last time I played it. The improvements are nice! Friendly staff and the carts are almost new. The driving range was closed due to the amount of rain the previous day but that is understandable. Staff got me on the course before my scheduled time since I was a single. I appreciated that as it made my round under 3 hours. The greens had a few spots that were a bit rough but overall they were nice. Not sure if it was normal for the greens or because of the rain but they held the balls very well. It is a course I plan to play again this fall. This is a good course for high handicappers.
Great back nine
Played a little slow but it was because of a tournament that day. Loved the links style of the back nine. My favorite part of the course.
Challenging but quite playable
Wind can be a big factor as trees are not in abundance, especially on the back nine. Not too easy to run shots onto greens but well struck shots to the green will hold. Pace of play was excellent and my threesome finished in less than three and a half hours. Carts were in excellent condition and were quiet, responsive and the brakes were good. We will return for another round in the near future.
Kingfisher Golf Course
I played the Kingfisher Golf Course on Thursday July 31st with a friend and again on Friday August 1st. with my son with my wife coming along as a rider spectator. Though wet from recent heavy rains the experience was great both days. The greens are small, the fairways lush and well tended, and there were frequent water and restroom facilities. I'll be back again.
Wide open fairways
The 2 of us were able to play 27 holes of golf in 3 hours and 55 minutes. The rate was extremely fair. The course is challenging with the first 9 holes a lot older with very tiny green and the back nine a traditional links course.
Typical municipal course
Contrary to how others have reviewed this golf course, this is just a lower end municipal course. The front 9 holes are pathetically flat and uninteresting. These older holes are crammed together in a small overall area, with some trees and small, flat greens. The back 9 are the "newer" holes, and have very sparse foliage. Although the greens are bigger and have some undulation, the only "views" you receive are of grassy areas and the pasture surrounding this course. The only thing redeeming about this golf course was the friendly staff. Definitely not worth the money or the drive!! Unless you live in this area, are a beginner at this game, or are just desparate for a place to play, do not waste your time and money!
Worth the Drive
There is something for everyone on this course. Greens were receptive and rolled true. Whole course was in great shape. Shorter course was still challenging with well placed bunkers and decisions to either go for it or lay up. Had a great time with the girlfriend and we will definitely be back.
Nice course
Enjoyed the course. Challenge if the course is the number of par 4s. Seven out of the first nine holes are par 4s. I will be back to play again!
Great Time
Thoroughly enjoyed this course, it's short but fun. Staff was very friendly, not as far of a drive from OKC as I thought, well worth it.
Great Value and Fun
Have been playing course lately due to low fees on GolfNow and relatively close proximity (about 35 min drive). Fairways are in great shape. Front nine greens are very firm, hard to stop an approach shot. Back nine greens are softer. The older front nine is shorter with large, mature trees, not really any "under growth" and only a few traps. Back nine is longer, with more traps and areas of "long grass" to avoid, and the greens have more contours. Staff is helpful and friendly. Cars are new electric. New club house is well appointed. Have really enjoyed playing this course.
