Great course Photo submitted by 5959steven on 11/08/2016
Just not great
Folks are friendly, it's just not well maintained. Which to be fair, I don't know how maintenance could be done well with all the slopes. I'll put it this way, there's a reason there's always hot deals for this course
Picturesque Course but a Few Flaws
If you’re a casual golfer, you’ll LOVE this course. If you’re a professional or a snobby country club type, then you probably won’t enjoy it as much!
The course is beautiful and has tons of elevation changes. Several holes you can see the downtown skyline. You can also see it from the beautifully remodeled clubhouse and driving range/practice area. One of the holes you hit off a cliff which is a super fun par 3. The uphill holes will really challenge you. And the dog legs are fun! You can do trick shots over the tree line back onto the fairway and cut some corners. The carts are nice, club and ball cleaner built in.
With that said, the greens could be in better shape. They were great when they put them in brand new recently but they have allowed weeds to spring up through the greens which will not give you a true roll. Some greens (like 18) are better than others but be prepared for inconsistent greens and some weeds. Other than that, my only complaint is that sometimes it’s overcrowded; they’ll book tee times every 10 minutes but the scorecard shows a pace of play of 15 minutes on some holes. Therefore, if you go during a popular time instead of a workday during working hours, you can expect traffic jams at some of the tee boxes. HOWEVER, the people who play this course have all been pretty nice so you’ll meet new friends during the traffic hold ups and the course staff are all friendly and great!
This course would be a true 5 star if they maintained the greens a little better and booked tee times every 15 minutes instead of 10!
missing the mark
This course dosn't live up to the design and layout. Potential wasted by marginal maintenance. greens were in good shape the rest of the course is not good. still plenty of time to get it ready for late spring summer.
Coach D
Fun course, even with a cart you get lots of exercise. Greens were in good shape, the roughs were all being cleaned up and cut back. Keep up the good work.
Beginners Beware
As an Intermediate player. I strongly recommend this course to intermediate to expert players. Beginners beware, this is a difficult course with crazy dog legs and slanted fairways. Ive seen a man hit 140 strokes on this course before. And I dont mean medically. I will say for intermediate and expert players, I often play this course and leave with more balls than I came with. The rough can be quite treacherous to the untrained eye, and the near 90-degree doglegs, balls can be hard to track from the tee. But, like I said, beginners nightmare, others gain. I found 15-golf balls the other day and holy cow, golf balls arw 21.99 a dozen. What a sweet deal! Also shot a 77. Felt pretty good. Took the lady friend out for a steak dinner to celly. Strongly recommend. Solid course, theyve done great work restoring the greens.
Great course w beautiful views
I love this course. Pace is always good, the staff is very accommodating and the views can’t be beat in Tulsa. It’s not very long but it has to be played w good course management. Overall a very fun course to play and a great value w GN.
Great course, hilly and challenging.
Great course, challenging from the middle tee for a 69 year old bogey golfer. Some lovely looking holes, lots of doglegs and water to avoid. It helped that the first time we played it we got paired with a regular who gave us great advice on where to hit/aim. Greens were in great shape (they had damage over the winter that closed the course for a couple of months apparently), and very consistent.
Terrible customer service
Twice I’ve interacted with the old man in the gift shop and he was condescending and disrespectful both times. Will not be returning.
Best Condition Ever
I’ve been playing the Canyons for 30+ years, and this is the best shape I’ve ever seen the course in.
Please keep doing what you’re doing out there. It is working out nicely!!
They installed new greens and they were great for sure! I wish they maintained them a little better though because the course conditions are starting to go downhill again but it’s still a beautiful and scenic course with fun elevation changes.
Value
I was introduced to this course about 3 weeks ago. I now drive from Muskogee just to play this beautiful course.. And every chance I can get, I'll be teeing off.
👍
Some course management so you can actually get a round in would be fantastic
