Condition of course
What a treat to play! With all the rain we have been having I picked a day with no rain some sun, not expecting to much I was very surprised the greens were perfect, only a few places where water collected. As everyone says the back 9 is the reason to play there.. looking forward to playing it again.
Great Scenery of Mt. Hood
Beautiful day, great location and pleasant park like settings on links...
Fun course, needs a bit of work....
Staff was very friendly. Course was very wet, from watering, a number of spots were muddy, needs a bit of work to be tip top condition.
Nice little course!
Nice shorter course, with tricky greens.
The course management really know how to ruin a beautiful golf courses
I would like to start by saying that my wife and I fly to Portland from Phoenix about once a year and we always look forward to playing at the Mountain View golf course with local family. We have always enjoyed playing Mountain View, as it is one of the premier courses in the area. That is until this year. The pin placement on Father's day was horrible, we had numerous incidents were all of our shots into the green rolled 30 to 50 feet back off of the green, even when the ball stopped briefly within 3 or 4 feet of the pin. It made for very frustrating and slow play on one of the busiest days of the year. The course staff appeared unconcerned and actually made light of the difficult pin placements, which were barely on the greens and/or tucked tightly behind hazards. I don't believe that a PGA Pro could have held very many of the back 9 greens, as they were all severely sloped. It did not matter if we pitched, putted, flopped, or hit a bump and run shot onto the green, they all stopped and then rolled back off of the greens, resulting very high scoring for everyone and tedious delays of play throughout the course. Our round of golf ended up taking over 6 hours to play as a result of the extremely difficult greens lay out. The tees and fairways were beautiful as usual for this course. I have no idea what they were thinking. I would be hard pressed to recommend this course to anyone other than a tour pro after this last round.
We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a good experience. The day that you played was our US Open Day and the course was set up at a higher difficulty than the norm. This is not our everyday course set up. We apologize that this has affected your overall experience. Please email us at MountainViewGolfCourse@outlook.com so we may further discuss this. We hope to hear from you soon.
Terrible.
I have played this course back in the day of Jack Beaudoin and it was always fantastic. Today I played and it is nothing more than a cow pasture. Tee Box's AWFUL. Any chip you had was on dirt no grass. It is absolutely terrible. I will never go back until its back to the way it was in the day.
We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a good experience. We are constantly working on improving the conditions of our course and appreciate your feedback for these reasons. However, we still would like to make sure that we can make this right with you again. Please email us at MountainViewGolfCourse@outlook.com so we may further discuss this. We hope to hear from you soon.
Mountain View
My over-all experience was good. The course was in good shape. However, some of the pin placements made it extremely difficult to stay on the green.
Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the course conditions. We hope to see you again soon!
Nice course, quiet area, backnine beautiful but many elevation changes, tough walk for some I'm sure
Nice little golf course. Ryan in pro shop one of the nicest people you'll meet. Do to time of year had to stay on cart paths. The major problem with this is the course is poorly marked for distances and I have no range finder.(stolen) Also alot of hazards are hard to see and are no signs about layup points. Definitely going back will be even more enjoyable now with course knowledge.
Slow players
When I caught up to the other players they did not let me play through and told me to go around them and come back and play The two holes that I missed after I pass them .
Nice place. Good layout. Carts and bumpy fairways
Played here 4 times hole 11 exciting shot. Don't go big there. Carts could be replaced but that takes a lot of money. Fairways very bumpy !!
Weather was perfect and Proshop staff friendly
Cart didn't have scorecard or pencils
short old school course, good fast greens
shorter course, smaller raised greens . good fun course with nice view of mt hood
fall golf
course fairways in most places in good condition. area off fairway where dry and hard ground. stopped for sandwich at turn and the staff had to be asked after ten minutes how long it would be before simple chicken sandwich would be ready. in two minutes it was brought out. whole wheat bread was dry and made sandwich hard to eat. golf cart straps were worn and lost clubs twice going uphill.
this course has great features.
fast greens.they need to get the old river sand out of the traps.
Ditch the ditch
The course is on some great land for golf. However, they ruined much of it with their glaringly artificial ditching and ponding. What looked like places where water would naturally flow were grassed over and ditches cut into hillsides. Are you creating a golf course? Or, irrigation ditches for hay fields? The drop shot par three has vertigo inducing artificial mats at cliff edge instead a nice grassed teeing ground in the space available.
Great Scenary Great Value
Good course overall. Begging to show fall like conditions on tee boxes.
Stay focused to score!
Second round here, last played a couple of years ago. This is a fairly hilly course, so it gives you're legs a good workout. Pleasantly surprised by the course conditions overall, though the fairways have more humps and bumps than any course around! Greens were pretty quick, and some have almost too much slope for the speed, pay attention to the break! Easy to get off line if you lose focus from tee to green. Staff was friendly, weather perfect.
Not worth the money
Course was not very well maintained, as there were down branches and limbs everywhere. Greens were in OK condition. Was very hot out and there were no water coolers to be found. Have to hit off a mat on one of the par 3's.
Hot day with no water.
The one water fountain was brown water. When I mentioned the need for water to the young guy in the shop he seemed disinterested, they need water at the tee boxes.
Beautiful and challenging course
Love the course. The 12th hole par 3 is amazing. You will want to tee off a couple of balls there . More difficult than other courses. Staff was great and I will definitely be coming back.
