Great course to play

Wish I would've known they aerated putting greens and sanded putting greens before I booked online, and booked my tee time online. Paid with a credit card the day before, but besides that it's a fun course. I wish they would bring down the price during the summer time.

Fair Value

For a Sunday am tee time, $28 is about right for this course. I'm sure they charge more in the summer, but I wouldn't pay much more for it.

A yardage book would be very helpful for figuring out a club on #12, and distances to the creek on #2, #14 & #15.

Wife and I played in 3:30. But we got out at 8a, too...it was getting pretty busy as we were leaving.

For early March, the greens were in really good shape. Mowing and leveling the tee boxes would be nice.

Glad we made the trek to play it....at least we know what it's about now.

The secret to #12 is you hit the same club you hit on the previous par 3 (#11?, haven't been there in a while).

Unique Layout in Scenic Landscape

There is small driving range and adequate practice green for warm-up. Greens are small, fast and very difficult to read on the course. Front nine is straight-forward but does require navigating some water hazards. Back nine is challenging. Distances not well marked in the fairways. Trees throughout the course often penalize wayward shots. Clubhouse, pro shop and lounge are all nice for a moderately priced public course. Staff was very nice, but there were no rangers to be found on the course.

Avoid this place!

First of all, their idea of course maintenance is to make sure it doesn't turn into a cow pasture! They just do barely enough. Secondly, they don't care about speed of play. 3 groups backed up by a fivesome? Call the pro shop? They literally said "we don't care!". Third, some of the tee boxes and greens, especially on the backside, are an embarrassment to golf. They obvious don't care as these conditions have existed for years. Finally the driving range is run like a third world country. Hours? Whenever they feel like it! It closes at the oddest hours. Balls? Who needs balls? They routinely "forget" to pick them up and then run out. Don't get me started on the ball machine! It only works half the time. Overall, they just don't care, so why visit?

Mt. View Golf Course

This course was nothing special and didn't wow me. I know that it has been dry this summer and if you were off the fairway it was rock hard. The greens were ok. The downhill par 3 was interesting but hitting off mats was kinda lame. Not a bad course but I probably won't be back. It was a change of pace and would recomend, kind of. The club house was real nice and the lounge was great for drinks after the round. But really the cart included in the price didn't really seem to make the deal any better.

Mountain View

Played the blues (6018/69.3/121) in slightly more than 4.5H on a Golf Now deal for $34 that included a cart. The layout is decent, there are numerous fun holes. The greens (along with many tall trees) are definitely the main defense of this course, Some of the short par 4's and short par 5's look like birdie holes on the scorecard and from the approach shot... until you get up to and see the green. Holes 2, 4, 6, 11, 12, 15, 16 & 17 in particular have very sloping greens from back to front or from side to side that can produce some downhill putts almost impossible to stop near the hole unless you make it. There also have a couple of greens that are among the smallest greens I have ever played on a regulation course. They have a very nice clubhouse and a restaurant onsite that I did not try. The snack cart came by twice, but there are only a few water stations on the course. Carts are older, no GPS, which would be beneficial here, because the course is NOT well marked for yardages. They have cement stones in the center of the fairways @ 100/150/200 that are often hard to see from even 20 yards away. The greens putted well, medium fast. They were smooth, firm and many greens have moderate to VERY severe slopes/breaks. The greens are definitely the best and most challenging part of the course. The fairways and rough were decent, hard, dry and playing short, but good overall. Many areas looked like they needed a good watering. The tees were also decent, dry but very playable. The sand traps were OK, better than the last time I played here. They have thick, freshly raked dark sand. A negative is that a couple of traps did not have a rake around them. Fun little course about 45 minutes SE of Portland, but not one you would pass by other courses or drive very far to come play.

Worth the trip

Played here a a few years ago several times and had a chance to come back and It didn't disappoint me. It has some tricky water spread across holes that if you don't know where they are can get you. It was a perfect day and I will come back.

Nice views of Mt. Hood

I found the course to be in really nice shape and had some wonderful views of Mt. Hood. The front nine of the course is playable, but there are a lot of blind shots. Way to many for me to really have fun. Also I would recommend that you leave the woods in the bag because the holes are short and all of the blind shots you have to make. The back nine I found disturbing because of what I call "gimick" holes. There is a par three that you have to hit down into the canyon. I would make the drop of close to 150 feet. It said the hole was 157 yards. I hit a Pitching Wedge perfectly. Came up a little short and stuck in a mud bog in front of the green and I never found the ball. But the worst hole to me was a Par 5 that you played up hill to a green that is so severely sloped that they have to cut a bench in the middle so they could put a cup on the green. I hit the green from 80 yards out and the ball rolled off the front. I putted at the hole two more times, never making the bench and had the ball roll off every time. I picked up and moved on. That hole ruined the round for me and took the fun out of the game. I don't like things like that. I find them to be a "gimick." Fix the hole. I may go back, but it will be a long time from now.

Best golf for the price

Played 18 with carts for $26 a person. Front 9 is pretty easy but fun. Back is a real challenge. Famous 12th hole needs to be seen. Many back 9 greens are almost Illegal. But I like them. Everybody has to play them. You learn where not to putt from. Very good deal, and pleasant day. Finished with drinks in the clubhouse.

Mt view in August

Fast greens and fairways. Ordered a Bloody Mary from the drink girl on the course and paid 7 dollars for the worst Bloody Mary ever! No alcohol in it and tasted like straight mix, and cheap mix at that. Had one in the bar after my round and it was awesome. Ask for Jody to make you up one.

Unique challenge

I'm a 16 handicapper. Pros: Most of the holes have a challenge, whether it be in the fairway (water), tree lined fairways or undulating greens. Like most courses you have to drive accurately to set up your second shot. Minimal rough.
Cons: Course is starting to dry out in some places. Nitpicking; Sand traps are not raked and water packed. Distant markers don't exist, just the standard red, white and blue in fairways.

This course has lots of trees and some greens that a small.

This course wasn't one of my favorites even though I shot a good round. Some of the greens are too small and hole 15 green is ridicules. If you putt below the hole the ball will roll back off the green and being above the hole, well forget it. It is impossible to stay on the green. The two guys that I joined really had a tough time and I'm sure it wasn't any fun for them.

Mountain View staff

Does the Mountain View staff care about the people who pay to play there? I used a hot deal on GolfNow, which included a "shared cart." When I arrived, I was paired up to share a cart with a chain smoker, who was already half drunk. I went into the pro shop and politely informed them that I was allergic to tobacco smoke and asked if I could have a cart for myself for health reasons. I was informed, "No, a shared cart means a shared cart." So I spent the day mostly walking alongside the cart in order to not get nauseous from his cigarette smoke. In answer to my question, Mountain View staff care more about saving a few cents on golf car batteries than on the health/welfare of the people who pay and drive to play their facility.

Fun and challenging.

Have played this course for years love the atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. The course seems to cutting back on the maintenance sorry to say from years past. Some areas are dried out while others have pools of standing water. Greens were in average condition. The food we ordered on the turn was of poor quality. Not the normal for what I was used to there. I would definitely go back as it still is one of my favorites.
