Fastest round yet
I read one of play issues with this course and whereas we had to wait on a number of shots on the back nine, the round still took less than four hours by a good bit. Greens were smooth. Lots of blind shots and seriously undulating fairways. As an avid walker of courses, this one was up there as far as challenge but not too bad at all.
Could Have Been Worse. Could Have Been Better.
Is describe this course as a “members first” course, meaning even though it’s a public course, the members dominate the course and ownership has seemed to have designed it that way.
Pace of Play was slow because there was the men’s league in front of me. Not a huge deal, I get it. The course isn’t going to tell their members to speed up. My round was 4 hours 40 minutes, but the course is so short/compact it felt a lot longer.
I started solo but after one hole was caught by two members. They told me that the members there book all the morning tee times at least a week in advance, so basically everyday the pace of play is slow because the men’s and women’s leagues, combined with regular members, book all the tee times.
There’s no “rules” out on the course, so eventually two more members caught up with us and my solo outing turned into a group of 5. Not a huge deal because pace of play was so slow, but the two “new” folks weren’t considerate of my golf. Twice I was chipping into the green and one of them was standing on the green directly on my line, and didn’t move til they had finished their putt.
I get it that the course has seemed to gear more towards the members, as the members I golfed with said they could basically do whatever they wanted on the course. That’s a decision each course can make and I’m not arguing with that decision.
But I don’t suggest booking a tee time there if you aren’t a member.
A good day during the pandemic
It was a beautiful day. The course is in excellent condition!
We had reserved carts for 2 of us; covid 19 rules apparently put the supply of carts in jeopardy; young fellow at the desk allowed foursome behind us to get carts leaving us without fir 9 holes. Grumpy old fool behind us hit into us three times, was clearly impatient on the tee box. I had to have words with the man.
Point is; marshaling was non existent; a martial would have helped.
Good course fast greens
Nice course, fairways drain well fast greens, little mushy off the fairway, worth the money
A lot of old big trees
Someone played with me informed the big trees in each course and I realized that how wonderfully they naturally designed the course.
Greens were sandy
Over re all it was a good course. Unfortunately they just aerated and the greens were really sandy and hard to putt on.
Course was crowded, but pace of play was pretty good until the last few holes. Course is in great condition and greens were very good.
At the Hills
Great old school layout and course. Excellent greens and decent fairways. If you want exercise this is the place to come for a great walk. Big trees can get in your way if you are off line. No tricks and what you see is what you get.
The course is tough in spots. Some of the greens were over seeded and sandy. Other areas were very wet, probably broken sprinkler pipes. Fairways in great shape, greens occasionally.
Hills Hills Hills
Walking this course will make your heart work. I love it!
Great course to play and a great workout if you walk it.
Greens are always in great condition.
Nice cource with some demanding holes
I played there the first time. The course is in good condition with fast greens. In some places, the course was very humid. Very friendly staff! Will play there again.
I have always loved the routing and right now the course is in excellent condition. Greens are very fast and Troy and the fairways are like thick carpets
