Fast Greens

Overall, great course! Front 9 nice an open, hard to get in much trouble.

The theme of the course is all about the greens. Fast and tricky greens. It is a really nice quality course with an excellent practice facility.

Back 9 has a bit more personallity than front. Certainly a must play if your in the area.

First visit to TTGC

First visit to Trysting Tree.

Practice range balls were exceptionally worn/old, which is the only “negative” that I have to report of my first visit, which is fairly small in the grand scheme of things as far as complaints go.

Course was in very good condition, from tee to green and everything in between. A couple of the bunkers looked pretty rough, but never hit into one so didn’t have to play out of any.

Greens were moderate in pace, but smooth for the most part. Quite a few pitch marks on some of them, but that really isn’t the fault of the staff, that’s on the lazy players leaving them. Fixed several and left it in better shape that when we arrived.

The “new” 14th and 15th holes were impressive (to the two others in my group who had played at TT years ago). I could tell they were additions, but the rest of the course was equally as cared for.

I’d give the course and staff 5/5, 10/10, 100/100. Would I come back? Absolutely.

Austere university course, immaculately kept

I'd heard of Trysting Tree occasionally over the years, but didn't know much about it before visiting. I came away impressed not just with the golf course, but the whole ethos of the place. Although it's a university course, it has all the down-home modesty of a country public course. Not only does it support a D-I golf program, it has a committed cast of regulars from Corvallis and beyond. It is also affordable, and in spite of its low green fees, it is one of the best-conditioned golf courses I've ever played, sporting prim fairways and greens many PGA Tour venues would envy.

Design-wise, the course is a little idiosyncratic, with many raised greens (it's in a floodplain) and some eccentric mounding, but overall it's a fun and fair test. And Sean Arey, who has ruled the roost for nearly 30 years here, is a great ambassador for the course. If you're in the Willamette Valley, you should definitely stop by.

Another great visit

A shower was possible, but only a few sprinkles at the start. Nice to see they replaced the carts. They also have the sleds available.
Being the turf research lab for OSU, you'd think it would be in great shape all the time. It actually is so, despite pretty heavy play, especially by their students and the HS and OSU golf teams. Greens are tough to read, but true, fast, and fair. Sometimes a slow pace, due to beginners.
Only has a snack bar, but decent beers on tap. Always a cute co-ed or two working the counter. If you're in the area, this is a must-play.

Best public course in Oregon!

Just a gorgeous course. Absolutely stunning. This is where the Oregon State University golf team host their division I NCAA tournaments! I played after a wet weekend in the middle of January... and it played like a late spring day! Not wet at all!
