Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club
About
Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club was carefully carved from the scenic terrain of its namesake mountain range, situated in the Northern Catskills. The lush green golf course is tucked away among forested hills brimming with wildlife. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they are joined by turkey and deer during their game. Bears are even occasionally seen on the golf course. The rolling terrain provides many ups-and-downs throughout, and you'll rarely find a flat lie. The golf course features narrow fairways lined with trees and strategically placed bunkers frame the double-tiered greens. Water hazards come into play on a few holes as well. It is a course that will test your accuracy and force you to strategize your shot placement on every hole. It's a tough test, but the beautiful scenery alone is worth playing a round at Blackhead Mountain.

Interesting course layout
If your looking for a fun day of golf this is the place. Extreme doglegs crazy elevation changes sloped fairways and contoured greens make this course extremely challenging and fun. Sometimes levels the playing field for all golfers. The big bombers tend to feel the rath of the course more than the station to station golfer. Bavarian feel to the bar is a plus. Very friendly and courteous staff.
blackhead
rained heavy the night before and the front 9 was in really bad shape and there were some really tough pin locations. by the time we got to the back 9 it was ok. would love to try it out again in the right conditions because it was a cool course.
Great course with a great view
First time playing here. It is a challenging course. When I go back, I think I will take a group with me.
Great First Experience
As you can tell by the title it was a great time for me at Blackhead. The pro was super friendly along with the rest of the staff and they gave off a great environment. The course was in great shape just not made for any big hitters, but the tight landing areas and small greens made up for it. Would definitely recommend and I will be going back soon.
A Wonderful Layout
Love the course and the people there. It is challenging but fair and always in great shape. We stay over and play two days in a row and we always try to stay over on a night the restaurant is open. It is one of the very best in the Catskills. We will be back next year and would join the club if we lived closer.
conditions dry
The course needs rain. I was informed of that prior to teeing off. Greens were in good shape. If the weather cooperates course will be back to being 4 stars.
blackhead
Interesting, challenging, lots of blind approaches, must plan shots and play smart
Tough Course
This is a shot maker's course. It is very short but froth with hazards. In some cases it is unfair. You have to know where to hit the ball on most of the holes, eg on #11 a shot down the middle will end up in the water. However, the Maasmann family is one of the most courteous and fair in all of the Catskills and the course is clearly the most scenic in the area. If you think you're a hot golfer, come here and let's see what you got. It's a challenge.

Good Shots Are Penalized
First timers are handicapped as many shots are blind. A perfect shot turns out to be a penalty because the fairways are sloped and do not hold many good shots. Overall, fairways and greens were in good shape but greens ran very slow. Course appear old and beat up.
Lots of fun
This is a genuine Mountain golf course with all the associated challenges. Dog legs, water hazards, rock ledges, are all part of the fun here. I really enjoyed playing here as it's anything but boring.
Watch Out
Greens can be very tough, woods, hills, water you will see alot of that. View was awesome. Bring your short game.
Mountain views
A challenging course with a lot of fun. A lot of places to get into trouble but if you stay on the fairway, you will be in good shape. The cart path is also a challenge and of concern in some spots. Beautiful views!
Lives up to mountain name!
Fun course with a lot of amazing views needs a redo of their roads and walking would be impossible but overall well kept and challenging
Challenging course
Tough course, lots of ups and downs. For the price, can't beat it.
lots of hills
lots of side, uphill and down hill lies.drives need to be near perfect.greens are slow but plenty of break.outstanding views.cart paths are rough.
a welcome challenge
a welome challenge and pleasure every time I have played it. Thanks to all staff of blackhead and golf now.
Blackhead CC
For the money and the views its hard to beat this course. Staff are very friendly and your treated like family. The 4th green is just pure evil, but I guess its fair in the sense that everyone has to play it, good luck stopping a putt on that hole! Other the my nemesis number 4 the course is a delight to play. Tricky but a lot of fun and you will not find better views along with the occasional whitetail deer family meandering around the course makes it that much more natural and peaceful. If you have the time and are in the area give it a shot and enjoy the outdoors
Great Course
Very nice course but difficult holes.8/2/2013, Would recommend to anyone wishing a tougher course.
