Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club
About
Blackhead Mountain Lodge & Country Club was carefully carved from the scenic terrain of its namesake mountain range, situated in the Northern Catskills. The lush green golf course is tucked away among forested hills brimming with wildlife. Golfers shouldn't be surprised if they are joined by turkey and deer during their game. Bears are even occasionally seen on the golf course. The rolling terrain provides many ups-and-downs throughout, and you'll rarely find a flat lie. The golf course features narrow fairways lined with trees and strategically placed bunkers frame the double-tiered greens. Water hazards come into play on a few holes as well. It is a course that will test your accuracy and force you to strategize your shot placement on every hole. It's a tough test, but the beautiful scenery alone is worth playing a round at Blackhead Mountain.

This course is by far one of the most challenging golf courses you will ever play
This course is by far one of the most challenging golf courses you will ever play. Its built into the side of a mountain. with lots of steep grades, water, ravines, and sloped fairways. Beautiful pristine views from high atop the Blackhead Mountains. On a clear day you can easily see for 100 miles..If you in the area this is a MUST play!!
Want a real Challenge on a scenic Mountain Course?
If you belong to a traditional golf club with large greens and wide open fairways with relatively little altitude change ,prepare yourself to a totally different kind of course and enjoy the many vantage points overlooking the. valley. Ponds and streams, forests and rock ledges line the fairways. Enjoy.
Challenging
Tough mountain course. Course in pretty good condition despite lack of rain.
Should’ve realized by the name of the Course blackhead mountain it Would be hilly Not up and down the side of a mountain Lot of blind shots Not Knowing the lay out We lost a lot of balls in water hazards are in the woods had to do a lot of extra walking because it was so wet the cart had to stay in the cart path
Mountain golf!
If you want to play a mountain course, this is a good one to start with!
Horrible Layout
Maybe worth $15. Narrow holes, seems like it’s impossible to hit a good shot because even when you hit a fairway it rolls into the woods. Fairways and tee boxes were in rough shape when I played. It was my first time playing and the layout was so bad that I went from the 8th green to the 5th tee box because they were next to each other, come to find out looking at my GPS that the 9th teebox was a quarter mile away. Same thing going from 17 to 18. Oh and the cart paths are the roughest I’ve ever experienced and I’ve played hundreds of courses, wear a helmet out there if you play here… the paths were probably redone around the same time they bought their golf carts because they looked like they were from about 1990. Also had people teeing off in front of me on the 10th hole as I made the turn. Not a good experience overall, can’t recommend to anyone.
Not good
It started with the first cart we had didn’t start. Next one had duct tape holding it together. Layout is very difficult and conditions are poor. Would not recommend.
It was a good day ...just a little warm. course was in good shape
no rating...because...
good and fun course...well maintained...would play it any time again BUT..before you go there take a good bath in mostly gnats and mosquito repellant...they will eat you alive...the course on its own a 4 or even 5..with the gnats 0
Very nice course with hilly sloping fairways. Slow golfers backed us a up a couple of times, but we went back and replayed holes. Greens were true. VERY friendly staff
Slow
First time playing. It’s a target golf course. Lots of L shaped holes where you hit an iron into another iron. Greens were akin to a miniature golf hole with crazy slopes that you can’t see on approach shots that throw your ball 20’. I could have lived with that. The 5 hours made it really rough. Played behind guys who had no clue about speed. Not fun.
Views!!
The course was nice. Layout was good. Golf carts pretty beat up. Course pretty easy but omg the leaves were out of control. The views were glorious. Drive don't walk!
