Poor condition

The course is in bad shape. They are not kept up. Lots of tall grass and leaves everywhere. I lost several balls because of these conditions. The greens are sandy also. I couldn’t make a decent putt on them. I had to clean my clubs constantly to get the debris off. The unfortunate thing is you can pay less to play at other courses close by with much better greens. The only positive thing I can say is the course layout is nice. I hope the owners invest in getting the greens improved.

U lost balls because you suck. Not because of the grass.

Go to Cross Creek

This course has been ruined in the last several years. The restaurant is okay, but the new owners have no golf experience what so ever. There is absolutely no reason why you would play here when you could drive 10 more minutes on Hwy 22 to get to Cross Creek and spend less money.

Worst course in Salem

Save your money and go someplace else. Worst course conditions ever. You are paying money to walk, lose balls in the fairway, and to not be able to out because the greens are trash. Such a sad day when a great old course in Salem is ruined. If it was 10.00 for 18 holes I may play again it if desperate, otherwise avoid at all costs. Pay extra to go anywhere else.

No maintenance

The tee boxes have super long grass hard to tee the ball up high or hit the par threes, the fairway and rough have no definition of eachother, the greens are mangled night mares of patchy brown dimples

It's okay, but could be better

First off, the driving range on this course kills me. I hate it. They have spots where you could use mats, and they really should just stick with that. I get liking to hit off the grass, but the grass in front of the stalls are so uneven it is maddening. I don't feel like I'm actually warming up my swing there.

The course itself is ok. Fairways are a little long, but the rough is a little short. Greens are astonishingly soft, and also a bit long. While it is so soft, some of the greens have huge chunks of grass missing. You really have to hit your putts with some pace to get them there. I like the layout of the holes and it really isn't that challenging of a course.

I got a hot deal on this website, otherwise, $33 is definitely too much for this course. I do enjoy playing this course though.

Yikes

I showed up for my 8:10 tee-time at about 7:30 on a Sunday morning; the club house was empty and locked. No one showed up until about 7:50. Even then, the fairways were so thick and tall that it was like playing out of the rough and the rough was thick, thick and all the old mower clippings (which seemed to never get raked up) made it impossible to find your ball if it rolled off the fairway at all. The greens were either sopping wet or dried out with large dirt patches. The course has a great location and a lot of potential, but I will not go back unless management changes.

Disappointed

Course reopened last year apparently with new ownership. Seemed like it was headed in the right direction. Have played there on and off for decades and it’s had it’s niche at time that’s made it a decent option. But, it’s taken a step backwards for sure again. Course conditions are notoriously wet early and dry (hard pan) late in the season. The course has been around forever and if you’re an area golfer your aware of it and know it is what it is. When it’s been managed well that’s been minimized by good upkeep, a pretty good clubhouse, and more modest greens fees. Lost a ball in the fairway. Was constantly clubbing down to dig balls out of overgrown fairway grass. Basically there was little reward for keeping the ball in the middle. Not to mention the time and frustration looking for a ball in the middle of the fairway! The clubhouse was closed on Sundays. The GolfNow price with convenience charge is a “Luke warm” deal at best instead of hot deal. Probably won’t go back. At least anytime soon.

Greens are aweful

The course is in aweful condition. The greens have large chunks of grass missing. They are not cut short enough and the only thing you could compare them to is putting on the back of a kitche sponge. There is no good reason for them to charge $33 ever.

Classic design

Great parkland course - classic design elements.

Standard rate is a little high, but had a great time. A few tee boxes not mowed, and greens a little bumpy in places. But overall nothing too egregious.

Priced Fair for the Course

The greens are not in the best condition. But it is a fair course. If you are a golf snob, it's not for you. If you are a weekend warrior it's a nice course.

Won't play it again

Fairways were mostly brown, and hard-pan. Small greens that were inconsistent: some were overwatered, others had brown patches, with cracks in the soil. Most of the greens had scattered patches of brown grass, and some bumps in the turf. The sand traps, however, had decent sand and plenty of it. And the course was fairly forgiving and open. We booked a "hot deal" price of $13 for 18, and got what we paid for.

Nice course

The course and staff were good. I think the regular price would have been too much if we didn't have a good rate from "Golf Now" for $10

Waste of my time.

This course has been declining over the years. But is the worst I' ve seen it. Fairways are bumping, greens are terrible. The course needs a complete over-haul.
