The Running Y Ranch Golf Course

About
Running Y Resort sits just across the California border, surrounded by the beauty of the Cascade Mountains. The challenging golf course was designed by Arnold Palmer and has been ranked as one of the top 100 public courses in the country as well as one of Oregon's best. When asked to pick some of his favorite designs, Running Y made the list. The golf course takes advantage of all the beauty of southern Oregon, preserving the landscape with such care that is was certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The layout features Palmer's signature fairways that are both curvy and receptive. The front nine wraps around Klamath Lakes and plays through dense woodlands while the back nine crisscrosses through Payne Canyon. The final holes are also laced with Scottish-style mounding and a few water hazards.

Pleasantly Surprised
Had wanted to play this track for a long time, but never had the chance till now. Am glad I played. Conditions overall were very good and really liked the layout. Course has some mild elevation changes, but nothing extreme. Water comes into play on a few holes. Clubhouse was very nice and service overall good. Would definitely play here again.
6-some!
My favorite course in the west but last week (7/22) we were behind a 6-SOME on the first hole and they were following a 5-SOME! They were probably locals but the pace was horrible. The pro shop said they didn't know - unforgivable.
Awesome!
If "The King" really was the one who designed this one (instead of his team), boy is it a beauty!
Greens in fantastic shape, very fast and have lots of slope. Holes 9 and 17 get much of the compliments, but the stretch of 3, 4, and 5 is what stood out!
I always try to walk courses, but this is not one of them. I knew there was LONG distances between holes, and happiily paid for the cart.
Great resort course, and just helps us remember that we have top courses in every corner (and between) of the state!
Great course but...
Great course. Played white tees which were too short. Perhaps green/white combo. Only writing this because back nine holes 11 thru 16 greens were shot and basically unplayable. Many muddy spots in fairways. Play front nine only.
Beautiful Arnold Palmer Signature Course
Played this course twice over the weekend on a group trip. The course has wide fairways and big greens, but trouble lurks along both sides if you get wild. Bunkers were not in the greatest shape, felt like you were hitting from dirt instead of sand. Deer and red tailed hawks are everywhere out there, and the scenery is beautiful everywhere you look. I found the refreshments at the club house incredibly overpriced, but enjoyed the golf experience greatly. Definitely worth the trip.
Southern Oregon gem
Wife and I played here using the stay-and-play package with the resort. The course is in great shape and the staff is helpful. From the whites, I would call the course tough but fair. It's a mountain course, with the requisite sloped fairways and mature trees, but does not feel claustrophobic. Several holes have excellent views. Signature hole is definitely nine, where the green is down, down, down. Staff at the resort could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Overall very impressive, and I certainly hope to play it again.
Good Fall Golf
Cool fall day for golf. The course was in great shape and the staff and other golfers friendly. The fairways had good roll and the greens were fast.
Hard Greens
A beautiful course, especially when played from the middle of the fairways. The fairway edges tend to be more difficult to play from (more sloped and more undulated).
The greens, though, are where the strokes add up: come in high or barely trickle the ball on, it's tough to make them hold. The putts roll too well, you need to leave yourself with uphill finishes.
Look forward to returning next spring!
Great Golf
An excellent and beautiful golf venue. They aren't using all of the original Arny tees, the tips, but you can see what he was thinking from there on every hole.
Nice green fairways.....
We checked in about 10 minutes before tee time, our vehicle broke down and had the repair facility ( in Klamath Falls) drive us to Running Y, just in time. The course is well maintained : green fairways, nice greens and tee boxes.. I would love to play this course again. All three of us agreed ( father, son and me)..
Great features
Excellent course I play regularly and conditions are always good
This course is fun to play
The challenges and features vary from hole to hole and keeps you interested. Wide fairways, nice greens make it a pleasure to golf there
Best course in the Klamath falls area.
Running y is simply the best course in the Klamath falls area. I've played all the other courses in the last month and running y is top notch. The course was in good shape, fairways were nice and green. The greens were fast, but fair. The value of the hot rate on golf now makes this the best value in the basin. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. The only negatives I would say are the fact that there were a lot of ball marks that were left unattended on the greens. That's more about inconsiderate golfers and the course can't control that. Beautiful course, can't wait to play again!
Great Round at Running Y…..
Have heard great things about Running Y and I have to agree with everything I have heard. Greens were challenging but fair. Course was beautiful and in great condition. Got a great rate via the internet. Very nice people in the clubhouse. Will play this course again !
Good day
Greens still healing from spring punch. I hate slow greens! Oh well .....
very cool course
Played here at the recommendation of a friend and was very pleased. The wife and I played the entire course by our selves, what a treat. Weather was ok. The course had good landing areas off the tee boxes, I played the yellows which was a help, play it forward. The greens were about as perfect as you could ask for. What a treat to putt on greens like those. Very friendly staff. Wait till you play hole #9 you will see what I mean if you get there. Looking forward to playing there again some day.
Course was in good shape.
Played the front nine without waiting on anyone. When we got to the back there was a foursome on the tee box. It took almost 3 hrs to play the back. We waited on every hole and by 14 we had 2 foursomes behind us waiting also.
Course is in great shape.
Fairways and greens were in great shape! The course was not crowded at all on the weekday. The views on this course are some of the best I've seen.
Great place to play
Everyone knows how picturesque the course is from the pictures, but it is so well maintained too. Definitely a challenging couse, but the lies and putting greens are very pure. Definitely play here at least once!
