What’s with the pins?
First off, the course is in good condition. That said, many of the hole placements on the west course were ridiculous. One was unplayable (and worse when it dried out more).
Bunkers need sand!!
I'm happy with nearly everything about both Glen courses except the lack of sand in their bunkers and I'll continue giving 2 star ratings to both for that reason only. You're only chance for an up and down is to try and "pick" the ball without taking any sand. If you try to play a standard bunker shot, your club bounces off the hard pan hidden about an inch under the sand with an excellent chance of a skulled shot. Once they put sand in the bunkers, I'll go back to a more generous 4/5 star rating as I've always enjoyed playing both courses.
Short but nice to play
Cours was in very good condition and nice to play. Most holes play short and straight but have some charm. Nice neighborhood friendly staff and golfers.
Not much of practice range but enough to warm up.
Twilight walking
Fantastic solo walking the west course. I began at 6 pm with ZERO waiting thru sunset!
Good play in January after lots of rain
Condition of the course was much better than I expected after such a long rainy days in Portland. There are some spots of wet and fairways have some mud, but not too bad to play in January in Portland. Greens were very good. Course is maintained very well, and I enjoyed playing in January. Thanks to all the crews at Glendoveer.
Decent January golf
Fire January the course was in good condition. The fairways were fairly firm and greens fast.
Good not good
Finally hit 80 first time. Front 9 slow slow and backyard not too terrible
Overall a great experience playing here. The few drawbacks were that the bunkers were hard in most places after some rain the past few days. No carts going around with snacks or drinks which was a bit of a miss. Pace of play wasn’t great, but wasn’t horrible.
