Fun course but bad conditions
The course layout was good. However...
This was my first time playing here and was a bit disappointed with the conditions of the course. The rough was long which was nice and challenging but the fairways were a bit overgrown as well and pretty sloppy in areas. We also happened to catch it on a day after they had just plugged the greens. Wish I would have known this before making the hour drive. I would try the course again in better conditions but only for a good deal.
Well kept course
The course is well maintained, if anyone books with cart expect to pay more due to pro shop worker charging an additional $10. The person tried to make an excuse that they don't normally do early tee times with any third party company. I advise not to play in the morning due to this inconvenience.
course was in very good shape, staff are extremely helpful
Good course conditions
Good course conditions, been here many times and it was up to its normal solid maintained standards. Unfortunately my game sharp by any means, but it was an enjoyable day in terms of the course conditions.
Nice affordable course tucked in to a housing community with an ample variety of shots to challenge a golfer. Does seem tight at times but wide open at others. Good course to practice precision golf. Greens were the biggest challenge of the course. Plenty of slopes, tiers and subtle breaks to make putting a real challenge. Overall a great course, competitively priced, and a joy to play.
Overall great club/course
I’m a member here and love the course, events, and the staff. Membership here is such a great value. Far less than most other clubs/courses. You also can join Courthouse fitness for a fraction of the full cost. A great partnership with Willow Lake Driving range also provides members with a practice area and balls as part of membership. There are also several membership options that will fit any budget.
Many do not realize McNary is also open to the public.
The staff is always super friendly and welcoming.
The golf course is challenging with a fair number of bunkers, ponds/lakes, creeks, and out of bounds around the houses. But the fairways and rough areas on the holes with houses are generously wide. The course is in fantastic shape with the greens rolling great.
A beautiful day at McNary
Great weather, great course, extremely helpful staff
Tight fairways and good greens
Takes in a neighborhood to a whole new level, demands accuracy but a fun round with varying hole layouts
Wanted to trry a new course and this was worth the drive.
will play again
the coarse was in great shape , the only problem was i was confused by the orange flags on side of the fairways , found out later by some young people they were playing foot golf . kinda cool
The Houses Are an Optical Illusion
This course is not really as "narrow" as others make it out to be. Sure there are a lot of holes lined with houses on both sides, but most of those holes provide plenty of room from side to side for errant tee shots to still land in play. The yardage overall is also fairly short. This allowed me to keep my driver in the bag in favor of shorter more accurate clubs.
The greens run true and they normally have ability to hold iron/wedge shots better, but they seemed to be firmer than I had remembered. Keep this in mind when hitting out of the rough and other areas where you will not be able to generate a lot of spin.
All in all, I really enjoy playing McNary Golf Club and I highly recommend this course to anyone in the area. They also have pretty good food in the restaurant as well (especially happy hour).
VERY WELL MANAGED
COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, WELL GROOMED, BUNKERS AND GREENS WELL MAINTAINED. STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND ACCOMODATING. WILL PLAY HERE AGAIN.
We felt unwelcome from the guy who checked us in at the pro shop, his name is Larry. Don't know what his problem was but he made us feel like pond scum and he talked about us outside with other customers saying, we have to get rid of this golf now crowd. Next time I go, I won't be so nice.
Good course -- good value
I've played McNary G.C. a number of times over the years, and always enjoy an outing there. The only negative is that there are homes along the course; occasionally in danger of my errant tee shots! Not really, though, as you'd really have to be pretty far off to actually hit a house. Still, it can be done!
