What happened?
I would play this course all the time a few years back. It was gorgeous back then. I wasn’t really impressed with the shape of the course this go round. Hopefully things get better.
Mixed bag
This course challenges all aspects of my game. Having discounted fees is a wonderful bonus. Can't play this course enough!
Not good
There was no sand in any of the bunkers the grass growing around the bunkers looks like it hadn't been cut in a week. There were white flowers growing in the rough to bad you couldn't find your ball.
Good game
Course was tough! It's at the base of a large hill and all The water that runs off the hill runs under the course so the course is kind of soggy grass is kind of tall but it was the first time that I played this year and we had a good time something tells me the course gets a lot better when the summer dries out a little bit
Best Winter Course in Eugene Area
This course drains better than any other course in the area during the winter. I prefer to play the front nine, as it has some steeper slopes that allow better runoff. Keep it in the fairway, and the ball won't plug in the winter. Great price, great staff.
SCC
We've had a lot of rain this year, Hats off to the greens keepers, they have been doing a excellent job maintaining the course. I would recommend this course to everyone.
great course
love this friendly course great layout and well kept
Sweet value!
How could you not enjoy a cool, clear fall day of golf for a bargain price of $10? I would have played anyway but would have appreciated knowing greens were aerated and sanded.
Well maintained, nice greens
Open fairways for the most. A few tight ones that are challenging.
This value of this offer unbeatable!
For $20.00, played 18 holes with a cart on a course that requires all clubs in the bag. One 9 hole side is pretty flat, the other 9 holes on the side of a hill. You get everything you can ask for plus the greens have some "character!!"
Great time and amazing value!!
Congrats to the ground maintenance crews!
I have been playing "better" courses lately (Sandpines, EV, Tokatee) and I have got to give it to you, the course was in great shape, the greens were PERFECT for a day of golf on the last day of the Open!
I will be back this weekend!
good value
great course for the cost.
Good Public Course
A good solid course. Fairways kept fairly short, rough a bit longer but not bad. A few of the fairways have hidden watery areas crossing them so make sure and take the course guide book your first time playing. From green to tee isn't always clear so the book helps there too. We would play again as it's an excellent value.
Course in very poor condition
Honestly, looking at the other reviews of the course, I am very surprised at the high ratings. I also want to start by saying I played this course last year and had a blast.
I played the course today and it was the first time I have ever walked off a course before finishing and asked for my money back. The greens are in decent condition. Everything else is in extremely poor condition. As other recent reviews note, this has been an extremely dry summer and SGC in particular has not been able to draw water out of the river to assist with maintaining the course. That said, I have played nearly every other course in the Eugene/Springfield are in the last month or so and none of them are even close to this bad. The other ammeneties have never been great here, but they are getting worse. I bought a bucket of balls of which 90% were very worn or damaged. The rubber mats you have to hit off of are worn through and even torn in some places.
I was really looking forward to playing this course because it is a challenging yet accessible course and the views are fantastic. Please, someone who actually likes golf buy this course and restore it to what it could be.
Fun track
This was a fun course to play. Could be enjoyed by all levels of handicap. While the course was dry due area wide drought the greens were excellent. Pro shop staff was very nice. Will come back another time.
Fun with variety of unique holes
This is a fun course to play greens are great with slopes, curves and well kept.
Open fairways, target greens
Course is dry but so are most this year. Play left center on almost all holes. Plays short so leave a comfortable wedge approach. Greens are hard so play the ball short to allow rollout on the green. Even strong wedge shots did not make a ball mark.
Greens are true. be sure to walk the green to survey your putt, some breaks or elevations are not visible from only one angle.
I think golfers of all levels will enjoy the course.
in the trees
This is the second time I played here. I really enjoy the course. Most of the fairways are treeline and tight. But the lies in the trees are mostly playable. Pace of play was great.
Great track which I recommend.
