Great time
Everything was perfect. Greens and faiways were in great condition
Challenging course due to trees
I wish we had known before hand that they just fertilized. Shoes, pull cart wheels and everything was full of fertilizer
Review
Overall the course is good greens were little Sandy but had a great time.
A real beaut!
Excellent fairways, incredibly true greens (with a few tricks). Played it in a steady drizzle, and it held up to the weather well in the fairways, and the greens remained fast despite being soaked.
nice course
Pleasant course with an easy walk. Narrow fairways with mature trees have put some interesting challenges into multiple holes. Good greens well kept. Would suggest that on warm weather days that course would place water coolers around the course, only two places to access water on the course.
It's a bargain and fun to play
This is a very walkable and well maintained golf course. Friendly accommodating staff and pace of ya was very good. I've put it on my list for play every year abs I live 70 miles away.
Santiam Golf Sunday Aug 10th
Like the challenge and the layouts of the greens which were more of a challenge. Next to Hwy 22 but noise never came into play. some par 5's had a great day. I was upset that their was no restaurant open or a beer cart .
Solid but unspectacular
If you come here expecting a memorable round of golf, you will almost surely leave disappointed. That said, if your expectation are to have an enjoyable round at a relatively straightforward course without spending a ton of money, then this is a great way to spend four hours. The course was in better shape than I expected, although the greens were incredibly slow.
In nice shape.
A good walking course. We always try to hit this course a few times a year. Always worth the trip.
Great consistent golf course
Booked our tee time after hours, how convienient is that! Had a great afternoon at Santiam.
Excellent Course
This course is one of the best in the Salem area. I've played most of them, and the conditions of the course were on par with the private clubs.
The only set back is that the course is fairly compact with fairly narrow fairways and roughs. So if you slice/hook your ball off a tree, you will likely be in the fairway of the adjoining fairway.
OK place to play
Fairways in great condition. Greens good. Pin placement very hard.
Typical (Boring) flat land golf.
might play there again
Play is very slow
I only play this course because of close proximity to my golfing partners home. Course condition is good and it drains well after rain. Biggest issue is they allow groups of 5 to play ! Would not be an issue but these guys will not let you play thru and there is never a Marshall to be seen.
Great course
Santiam consistently provides a quality facility no matter the time of year. The members are very nice and so are the golfers. My favorite local course.
Great Greens!
I play this course at least once a year and this was the best I've ever seen the greens. They are rolling as pure as 18 karat gold. the rest of the courses in good condition. There were no bald patches in the fairways. My only complaint if they still have not leveled the tee box on number 3.
Cool Friday
Always enjoy Santiam GC. Some of what has been written about the curmudgeon type local/member/shareholders is true. They can and do act like they own the place ( they do). And they often play in 5somes and 6somes which can be annoying . And the local rule is "hit till your happy" on the first tee so that can take a newcomer a little getting used to if it happens. However I enjoy playing there and with the Golf Now deals it is hard to beat for a value. The greens are great. The course is fairly wide open allowing for recovery unless you smack it outside the boundaries on the border holes. The bunkers are usually well maintained and it drains pretty well. The long 4par 7th on the front is challenging against the prevailing west/sw winds with a creek crossing the fairway. The longish 3par 12th on the backside is tough too with the strong in your face wind. It is easily walkable and predominately flat. The eats are excellent and the beer cold in the clubhouse. The small range is ok with 4 hitting areas . There are both, beginners and experts that play here. The staff are cheerful and helpful.
Hot deal
Great price for a great course. I seem to gave trouble playing this course tho. No fault to the course, just a mental thing fur me. Still a great course for the price, will play here again for sure.
well maintained, even in the winter
Nice course, Mostly flat, with little or no elevation changes. easily walkable. makes up for being flat with large old trees, and water. and sand.
Santiam is a classic well maintained community owned golf course
A fun course for all skill levels, well maintained with a friendly staff
