Silver Lake Golf Course
About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Wish they would do away with the extra 20 dollars for the cart, as a veteran it used to be included on military tee times
Had to leave early
Pace of play was pretty bad which is very odd here as it usually is fine. We waited 25 minutes on the tee on the tenth. Staff was apologetic and tried to rectify the situation.
Nice course
Course is pretty nice, some fairways are tight, but for the price isn’t bad. Just have to add another $43 for the cart once you’re there. Guy who gives out the cart is constantly miserable each time I’ve gone there, but other than him everyone else is pretty friendly people. I would recommend
6.5 hour round...
This is my favorite course to play on Staten Island but unfortunately the pace of play was HORRID! I called the pro shop twice to report slow pace and never saw the ranger for the whole round...
Slow
Excruciatingly slow. Had a 6:30 tee time and it was a 5.5 hr round. Course was packed, disorganised and super tight. Never heard so many FOURS yelled in my life. Conditions were fine but will avoid in the future given the safety and pace of play on a packed course.
Pretty public course with some nice design features.
I drove from northern New Jersey to play this course. I found it to be enjoyable with a few challenging holes. Overall, the terrain is pretty hilly so walkers will be tired after an 18 hole round. Most holes are quite short; I don’t think I brought my driver out until the fifth hole. Most par fours were better positioned with a low iron or hybrid.
As with most courses right now, it was quite dry and hard. Not a lot of forgiving bounces, other than run outs in the fairways. The greens were in good condition and pretty fast. A few of them were wide and shallow, which made it challenging for approach shots.
I didn’t eat or drink in the clubhouse, but it seemed pretty nice for a public course. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I probably won’t make the drive again from Northern New Jersey. If I were a local, I would probably play there pretty regularly, but we have enough really good courses in New Jersey, it doesn’t quite seem worth the drive/toll costs.
Meh, but if it’s the only course you can get to…..
Not worth the money honestly. The course is not really maintained, is a very hard surface, and there are a bunch of tee boxes and greens that were in the firing line a shanked shot. Definitely needed to keep my head on a swivel. Poor etiquette on course also resulted in more then a couple balls landing within ten feet of me with no one yelling “fore”
