Greens and fairways in excellent condition. Wish it had some par 5's.

Beautiful course and fun for a new golfer liked myself. However, tee times are too close together and we felt rushed rather than having a relaxing game.

This course is nestled in a elderly neighborhood and some fairways are lined by houses so be warned of the residents and older golfers. That said everyone we've met there has been more than friendly and the staff is nice too. But the course itself is in nice condition and is awesome to play if you can keep your tee shots straight. Not too long but still has a par 5 or two to keep you hitting long. Easy to walk. Greens are nice and not too challenging, includes some well placed bunkers and uses water on a hole or two. It's fairly inexpensive at regular price, around $11-$15, depends when you go or find it cheaper on golf now. It's close to home so I go there every once in awhile and will continue to.

Summerfield is a very pleasant course to play. There are holes with trees to watch out for and then a couple of holes with water to navigate over and around. Overall, if you want a nice place to play 9 holes, Summerfield is a great value.

Overall, this is a decent course.....with a few peccadilloes.

First, the good. The course itself is well maintained. Decent fairways, bunkers, and greens. Not championship quality, but nice. Very playable. You're unlikely to lose your ball on an errant shot because there's not much in the way of thick bushes or dense forest to lose it in. All greenery is well trimmed and kept to a minimum.

Most of the fairways are lined with a few trees. They don't necessarily come into play unless you're like me who brings them into play when I don't hit straight. The entire course is surrounded by homes but they are far enough from the fairways to keep you from worrying about breaking someone's window or ruining the family barbecue. If you're always swinging for the fences then you might want to reconsider playing this course. Anything less than that type of play will cause you no worries. Play your game and you'll be fine.

There are water hazards on a few holes but, once again, they really don't come into play. There's sufficient room on the fairways and greens to avoid the water without much fuss. If you end up in the water, it's either because you're hitting much further than normal to the right or left. Or, you're taking chances trying to get on the green when you shouldn't. There's no need for this because the course is reasonably forgiving.

On the final hole, there's a forced carry over water. Don't let the sight of this scare you. It's not as difficult as you think. The tees are set close enough to give you a good chance of clearing the water and ending up dry on the opposite side. It's only about 116 yards from the tee to the flag, and that's from the blue tees. The visual of water is really just a mental challenge. If you let the sight of water get into your head then,.....well.....keep a few extra balls handy. There's no shame in it. I've done it too.

After checking in at the pro shop, they'll give you a tag to place on your bag or cart. Show it to the starter at the first hole and you're on your way. They keep a tight ship around here so make sure your tag is visible for the starter to see. He's friendly enough and will answer any questions you have if it's your first time to the course.

It's a nine-hole course so if you want to play 18 then you just play it twice. There's two sets of tees, one red and one blue. The red double as the ladies (or "forward") tees and as the front nine. The blue are set further back and double as the back nine in case you want to play 18 holes. The course only has par 3's and par 4's. No par 5's.

Summerfield is nestled in a 55 and over community so you won't find much empty beer cans laying around or weekend warriors stirring up trouble. Parking is not allowed on the street but there's ample parking in their lot. The pro shop is close to the first tee.

Now, the minor infractions.

Summerfield needs better signage. When I first arrived, I couldn't tell where the pro shop was located. I walked around the entire building on the second level until I realized it was set on the lower level on the opposite side of their public parking area. Perhaps a few more visible signs would help people like me who are new to the place.

This course is busy, especially on the weekends. I was part of a threesome and there was a foursome ahead of us and behind us. On just about every hole I could see, there were groups of at least three or four people. We often found ourselves bunched up on a tee box waiting for the group ahead of us to finish. I joked with my fellow golfers that I felt like we had a gallery watching us at every tee shot. No pressure there, right?

While we were waiting to begin on the first tee, one of the ladies behind us got the attention of my playing partner. She told him, "We keep our (pull) carts 10 feet from the tees and greens." Not sure why she said that since all three of us had our pull carts on the cart path while we waited. It made for an awkward moment. We politely assured them we'd respect the rules and the course.

A few times when they were bunched up behind us on a tee we would offer some friendly chatter to help keep the mood pleasant. A little levity always helps. It did. There were no other awkward moments for the rest of our round.

I guessed these ladies lived there and played there often. If that's the case, then I realize it's THEIR home and THEIR home course. I just prefer to play at courses were strangers don't REMIND us of the rules, especially when we're already following them. I think you understand what I'm trying to say.

That's my take on Summerfield. I enjoyed it and I'll stop by again sometime in the future. It's a good course and worth a try, especially for the price.

Summerfield is a good course when played at the right time. If however you find yourself stuck behind a slow group or three then do make a point of chatting with the friendly locals and you're bound to take home a few interesting stories. Summerfield fairways are lined with houses so hit straight or be prepared to listen for the 'thuk' of your ball hitting someone's roof. Hopefully you are blessed with a good bounce but you might want to take that provisional just in case you're out of bounds. Bring a few water balls and practice your sand trap shots in advance. Great value with the 'hot deals' times.

This course reminds me of Charbonneau. I tried it after a reviewer said it was nicer than King City. Quiet, friendly, nice atmosphere and the course is in outstanding shape. All for a great price. I'll definitely be back.

I play at least once a week here. They take good care of their course.

Summerfield is a well maintained and beautiful course and I had a lot of fun the first time I played this course. Today was a different story. To make a long story short, my Dad, Cousin, and I were harassed by the course Marshall on 3 occasions (in 20 years of golfing I've never had a Marshall give me a hard time about the speed of my play). He spoke to us in a confrontational and condescending tone. He even went out of his way to give my Cousin (who hasn't played golf in 5 years) about a ball he hit from behind the out of bounds marker (I understand usually you drop, but we didn't notice until too late), but it in no way deserved the attitude and hostility and mocking tone he gave us. Needless to say we will not be playing this course again.

The course is in good condition. No dead patches in the fairway. Greens are soft, but speed is not too slow. The slow play is horrible. Took 2.5 hrs to play 9 holes. There were some holes that were wide open ahead of my group, My foursome had a beginning 9 year boy who was slow (he played best ball with his father), but we were always on the tail of the group in front of us. Doesn't seem like the marshall was speeding up play. When the ball is hit in the water, people need to use the drop sites. That would speed up play. Nine holes on this course shouldn't take more than 90 minutes. I like if for a quick nine holes when no one is around.

The management, staff and residents of the Summerfield Golf community are always friendly and helpful. Beautifully maintained senior community 9 hole course that beckons for a return visit.

Have played here a couple dozen times since 2010. This is the first time I've used a golfnow deal at this place. It's a public course situated on a retirement home property. The pro shop staff is friendly. This is the first time I've played Summerfield on a weekend. It was a bit slow; took over 2.5 hours to play 9. Usually I play 9 in two hrs or a little less. There are a couple of holes with water, and a few deep sand traps, and a couple of narrow fairways, but all in all it's a fun but not murderous course. I'm a weak golfer (I average 52 there and par is 33) but I keep coming back because it's so nice, close to home, and not that hard to get on as a single regardless of when I come. Still trying for my first ace on #9, about 110 yards over a lake-sized fountain.

If you can deal with a stink eye or two from the retirement community this is a great little track!

This is a great course to get in a in la nice 9 holes. Well maintained and friendly staff! Good greens and nice features!

last two rounds was slow play. not really a problem if your not in a hurry. we well be playing again for sure.
