Not bad, not great
Tee boxes under repair, course could be better if they invested more into upkeep. Fairways were good. Greens decent shape, needed some rolling and acorns blown off a few
Sandbox !!!
Horrible experience. Entire back 9 was a sand box from the tee boxes to the putting greens. Was not even a word mentioned about this and they still charged a premium to play. Never again.
Back 9 Greens
Yes it’s October golf but the inconsistency of many Greens and Tee boxes really surprising! You were either putting through a sandy pot holed green or some in great condition? Happy to get out even in worse than usual conditions. Difficult to judge pace or even how balls would land and roll out on shoddy greens. It’s been in much better shape plenty of rounds but not this day, oh well
Nice course. Could use TLC
Carts dirty. Have not been washed in a while.
Tee boxes in bad shape overall. Lots of tees left in place.
Lots of Divots in greens.
Back 9 greens had a lot of sand in them.
Sand traps dry.
Solid Track
South shore is slightly short from the back tees but makes up for lack of length with some well laid out holes that have good elevation changes and are fun to play.
A few of the greens were saturated with sand and were in really poor shape, which is something that should’ve been communicated in advance. All in all, it’s a good course to play in a pinch and I’ll probably be back in the future.
Worst experience golfing
Charging $80 for this course should be illegal. When we arrived to the course we had to wait after our tee time for a cart because there were none available. There was no grass or markers on the many of the tee boxes and the greens might as well have been bunkers. Our round was even worse with the group in front of us playing from the blue tees but being incapable of hitting it passed the red tees. There was no ranger going around the course for pace of play which was definitely needed. Tire marks tearing the fairway and fringe on par 3s could have easily been patrolled and prevented. On a 90 degree day you would think they would have water available... nope. There was actually a water fountain that was destroyed which didn't help anyone. Overall, a horrible experience and wouldn't recommend this course to anyone. A waste of time and money.
It’s in bad shape.
I wanted to like this course so much but the sandy greens, hornet attacks and overall conditions were so bad it makes silver lake feel like pebble beach.
Beware of Murder Hornets
I’ve played this course several times throughout different times of the year. This time around (July) was pretty terrible. They have a very serious problem of murder hornets all around the greens and even in some fairways. We’re talking close to a 1000+ on some greens. You end up having to leave the ball on the green and move onto the next hole. This happened several times throughout the round. Very clear that they are not doing anything about it. Definitely my last time playing this course. Staten Island courses in general are pretty bad to begin with, but today was very disappointing. Lastly, don’t even bother looking at the menu in the “clubhouse” - apparently they don’t keep those things in stock and the GM is too lazy to do anything about it.
Fun in SI
Nice course, pleasantly surprised. Friendly easy going atmosphere. Great deal at GN. Pace of play was awesome during afternoon, fairways and greens nice condition. Like the layout, fun... will be back for sure.
Golf in March
Overall the course is coming along, grass starting to grow and greens filling in. Compared to LaTourett it’s ahead of schedule with maintenance and upkeep. They actually have a starter(Bruno) who was especially nice and accommodating on busy Sunday after washout Saturday. Windy conditions dried out most wet areas and pace of play was better than expected.
Better than LaTourette’s horse track!
Cart path only so slowed it down a bit, course is starting to grow inn. Greens spotty with crab grass patches but it’s still only March! Bruno the starter, super nice! Over all much better than players club at LaTourett which is currently in sad shape. Bunkers have actual sand in it and fairways coming along. Even after rain on Saturday it wasn’t too wet thanks to 20 mph winds!
