Nice course

OGA has a couple of funky holes that are borderline, but overall a fun course and decent value. Went late morning during middle of the week and it seemed quiet. We arrived early so they moved us up a bit..Desk folk fell asleep or something, as they forgot to call out tee times which made for a log jam..several groups waiting around, not knowing who's up, if they need to go ask what's going on, etc. I want up and inquired and they just casually said go on out, only to find out we basically were going out ahead of two groups who were waiting around confused. Whatever. Hopefully that isn't the norm. Once we were out there, we flew. Helps that nobody had teed off in front of us for half an hour of course. 3 of us finished 18 holes, with a cart, in around three hours. Can't remember the last time I did that. Facility is good, appetizers and drinks very reasonable..course was in good shape, greens aren't huge but make for a lot of straight putts, and plenty of tees for everyone. About a half hour drive or so from south Portland. Find a discounted tee time if you can..then it feels like a good value overall.

Great Course

Played on a busy Saturday, so the pace is a little slow. But the course was in excellent condition, and the green rolls very smoothly. I would love to play more here if I live closer.

Excellent course

My favorite in the Portland area. This course is immaculate. It's challenging, but not so difficult that I get too frustrated. The staff is always courteous, especially the guy that looks and sounds just like Robert Duvall. I feel like I should be paying twice what I pay to play here, but the normal rates are very good and early bird rates are incredible! I would play here every day and be in heaven if I lived in Woodburn.

Solid course

Course conditions are very good right now. Greens are putting fast but not super fast, and smooth. Bunkers ( I was in more than a few) had good sand.
Overall this course gives me a fair challenge, fun to play. Good practice areas, and good food.

Pure

Awesome sand base course, crisp contact, perfect lies every time. Pure fast greens, plenty of room off tees, very attractive setting. Great value. Only 4 stars cause its not pebble or bandon, best conditioned course in Portland area.

Great course but were hurried

Love this golf course but hadn't played it in a few years. Having a great time until the smarmy little 20 something year old marshal reprimanded us for holding up play even tho we played the front in 2:10 according to the clocks on the course. Then he told our foursome he would make us skip a hole if we didn't catch up on #12. Didn't like his tone and it ruined our round. A halfway decently trained marshal would have merely said "hey guys could you pick it up a bit?" And it would've been fine. We were having fun but apparently the three old curmudgeons behind us were not. We were having fun and playing within the pace of play but got yelled at by some kid. I've been playing the game a long time but never got treated like that anywhere.
Will play here again but that kind of marshaling has to stop or get rid of (won't mention a name) that young man.

Variety

Great mix of holes. Directions, strategies, challenges vary nicely. Rolling terrain. Best efforts at pace of play that I have seen. Played in 3:54.

I'll be back

1st time playing this course & I will play it again. There is housing throughout the course but far enough off the fairways to play it, as long as you don't WING one. Easy to walk with a couple of holes that don't show the dangers that hide over the hills or corners. Now that I have played I will know how to setup with shorter approach shots on these holes. There are some good size sand traps & like most courses the sand is packed down , the only negative I seen. I played the White Tee's (they have 4 sets) which is 5917 in length . I didn't really checkout the facilities this time , next time I will , but it looked nice & was kept up well ...

Excellent greens.

The greens were very uniform and relatively fast. Forgiving off the tees. Also, the bunkers had nice sharp edges. You couldn't cheat them at all. I loved it.

not for duffers

in my opinion, unless your handicap is less than 15, don't bother. It's not that the course is set up badly, it's that you really have to make GOOD shots on every hole. One mis hit, and you get blown up, the jungle that you need to go over, around and whatever, captured quite a few of my balls. The bunkers are way deeper than the average ones I play. I am not ready for this kind off challenge.
Below, I clicked "beginner" but thats not true, I play at least once a week, and normally score in low 50's, on this course, I was way over matched.

Incredibly frustrating round

The course was relatively full of high school students playing a district tournament, which wasn't a huge problem. We finished our front nine in just over two hours. It was slightly slow, but not overly so.

When we got to the back nine, the high school district tournament had concluded and we were expecting the course to open up. Sadly, that wasn't the case. There were three groups of women in front of us who made the round terribly slow. We waited on every tee, including waiting for three groups to finish the par-3 17th.

Nobody from the course was out marshaling to keep the pace of play reasonable. In total, our back nine ended up taking 3 and a half hours to complete, making for a 5 and a half hour round. Completely inexcusable from a course management standpoint.

Probably won't be playing this course again for quite some time.

Fun Course

First and foremost, OGA is a fun golf course in excellent condition. Worth repeating...excellent conditioned golf course, tee to green. Only drawback is it is a typical American Golf Course in a nice neighborhood...meaning after seeing it only once, none of the holes really memorable...all very nice, but not unique. This type of course does set up for a fun day because its right in front of you. I went there because I got a rate of $20 for 18 w/ cart on Golf Now. At this rate, the deal of the century. I'm a guy who plays the course when the timing is right. Pumpkin Ridge in the winter, ect. This is a course I would like to play more, but I believe the price is key here. With so many options in the area this course has to be cheaper than Langdon Farms, Pumpkin Ridge, The Reserve, ect to be a value. When the stars align and the deals are on at Golf Now again...as Arnold says (not Palmer)...I'll be back.

Awesome value on Golf Now

Great deal on an Easter Sunday round at OGA. Greens had been plugged and sanded a week ago but were good shape - much better than the other plugged and sanded greens I played recently. Hadn't been in a couple of years but still love the course in spite of a couple of tricked up holes (4 and 7, you know who you are!).

Fun Course

April showers bring May flowers.... but in Oregon you get soggy fairways. Yes some of the fairways were soggy but nothing to keep you from playing one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the area.
The greens were in awesome shape. The ball rolled smooth and true. Best greens I have played on so far.
The bunkers actually had good sand in them and they were raked to perfection. Something you don't see at other courses in the area at this time of the year.
I am keeping this course on my list this season and will be playing this many more times.
Keep up the good work.

Great course...would've been better without the rain!

The rough was REALLY soggy...almost marshy because of the rain. The fairways were still in good shape, and the greens were exceptional! They were fast and very difficult (in a good, challenging sort of way) despite so much rain. We had a ton of fun. We played 17 of the 18 holes before it got dark on us and it was really quite enjoyable.

Would like to play in dry conditions...

Even if the course was swamp like, we enjoyed the layout and the quality of conditioning. Slow foursome ahead of us did not care to let us play through...
