Nice Course
Enjoyed a round of golf at Limekiln yesterday. Three - nine hole courses allowed them to spread everyone out. Course was in very good condition and pace of play was perfect being a week day. There are some challenging holes that require accurate tee shots to set up your second shot. Water is limited but sand and trees provide additional challenges. Definitely would like to play and try the third nine.
Fun course
This is a challenging golf course. tough to play first time because ball placement is critical. The greens are large and have many elevation changes. The staff is very friendly.
great value
enjoyed the course in great shape nice scenery staff was friendly would play again I really like it not extremely difficult but challenging greens were excellent
This course was fairly challenging
The course was well maintained and offered a pretty wide variety of challenges.
Give it a shot - chip, drive and putt
Tommy was wonderful with our introduction to the facility. Golf was great. course in very good shape. golfers need to pick up their tees on the tee.... too many around. Definitely would recommend as this is a good fun course and a good value.
If you are a Phillies fan this is a MUST!! Owned by two outstanding Phillies.
Try it out... you'll be happy.
Slow Play
The course was ok but the time of play took 6 hours. They need a Marshall to enforce the pace of play. We were waiting on every tee box to hit. At times we had two groups in front of us at the tee box before we could play.
Great Course with Caddyshack Charm
Pulling up to the course, you start to feel nostalgic of the 1960s Golf atmosphere. The Main entrance for example, is a Brown wooden carved sign that is much more stoic than the typical Printed Sign you see today. There is also an old clubhouse, that I can imagine filled with staff serving hot-dogs. As someone who enjoys Urban exploring, I enjoyed this little feature a lot.
The course is also in fantastic shape, and I was privileged to have gotten away with such an inexpensive tee time through GolfNow. As far as conditions are concerned, the course was a little "hard" and I could see it baking out towards late July and August, but right now it's as green as can be, and the Greens themselves were fantastic.
If you are looking for a place to golf that is designed to be challenging but still fun, this is the curse for you. It has Water Hazards, Sand Traps that are so very carefully paced, and a lot of woods. The entire course is relatively flat, so if you are looking for a course to walk this is the place to be. Overall the course will challenge you to think ahead; the fairways look wide open off the tee, but some leave a tough second shot up to the green over a trap.
One really bright spot that I am starting to see at more courses is a pin layout on the scorecard. They tout six different pin locations, and most of the greens have three levels, leaving some very exciting putts. It's nice to know going out where exactly the Pin is, instead of having to make an educated guess based on the color of the flag.
Nice course, average conditions
Played here for the 1st time in 20 years with a Hot Deal. Fairways were hard and the greens on flat putts were quite slow and grainy (very slow uphill but quick downhill down grain). Staff was friendly and the pace was good for about 15 holes before catching up with a very slow threesome. Worth playing on a Hot Deal but there are far better courses, if paying rack rate.
More sand
The course was in excellent condition, my one complaint is the green side bunkers were lacking sand. hitting down on the ball resulted in hitting clay and causing wildly erratic shots.
Golf day
Very enjoyable. Pace was great. Weather fantastic. Staff friendly and courteous. Would play there again
Pretty straightforward course
Wide fairways that narrow in the landing areas reward good drives but don't overly punish marginal ones. Plus, the treed areas are clean underneath making it difficult to lose a ball in the woods. Most holes were straight so not a lot of doglegs to navigate.
The greens were tricky in that the grain seemed to have as much or more impact on break as the mild slopes.
Short walks from green to tee and mild elevation changes should make this an excellent walking course.
Pace and Condition Stand Out
Pace of Play: Played here for the first time on Memorial Day so I was expecting a five hour round, instead, our threesome walked off the 18th green almost exactly four hours after teeing off. There were short waits on hole ten after making the turn, but not many more. I've only played here once tho so I can't say whether or not I simply got lucky.
Conditions: The course was in all around great shape; no noticeable burnt out grass, no ground under repair and the bunkers were actual bunkers. Nothing irks me more than a course with bunkers filled with hard pan or dirt. Greens were also in very nice shape and had a great pace. Rough was on the short side so missing a fairway wasn't very punishing.
Other Thoughts: Everything else about the course was what you'd expect in this area; average value and food/drink. I thought the course was easier than most, would've liked a bit more distance on par 4s. Expect a lot of second shots with wedges. Limekiln has three sets of nine holes, I played the red course and the blue course over my 18.
Pleasant
The course has three nines and is in pretty good shape. The Pro Shop refused to give me a non-resident, senior, veteran's discount, but none of them do so I wasn't surprised. They did accept cash. I like the course. Rough was very thick and easy to lose a ball only a few yards off the fairway. Didn't use the bar, so can't comment. Saw the cart girl once.
Part time bogey golfer
I was thoroughly pleased wth playing Limeklin. The course was in excellent condition, greens role very true . A nice variety of holes that will challenge you to make shots. You have some risk vs rewards types of holes (shots ) that makes an average golfer think the game at a higher level. Limeklin has become 1 of. my favorite courses in the area.
Highly recommended. to the novice and advanced golfer.
Horrible Service
Never play this course, ever. They don't deserve your money.
I had read some reviews online about the service at the course before heading there. The first time I went, they weren't overly rude but they weren't nice and welcoming by any means.
The second time I headed out to this course, I got stuck in traffic and just missed the 11:38 tee time as I checked in at 11:40. The guy in the shop noted that I was late (as if I wasn't aware) and said that my group had teed off already. Usually when you're late as a single on a weekday, they'll fit you in with a later group. No, they made me skip the first hole and drove me out to the second hole with my group (note: if the tee time was 11:38, and my group of three was already on the second hole at 11:42, they definitely teed off early).
What really got under my skin was how rude they were about it. If they would have asked nicely about whether or not I would mind skipping the first hole to keep up with their tee sheet, I would have been fine with it. Instead, he had me jump into a cart and I had no clue where I was going. I stopped at the first hole (who had a threesome) so I just assumed I could join them. He made special note to tell me that, "we're not stopping here, their fourth is late too" (probably also stuck in traffic). And he had me meet up with my group.
The best part was that we were on hole 12, and the fourth of the group behind us finally showed up and she was forced to join the group on hole 12 (I hope she didn't get charged full price). I saw the guy drive her up to the green behind us on hole 11. Ridiculous. Sometimes these things happen, but there's no need to be rude about it.
I will say this: The conditions are good for a public course and pace was as good as it gets (again, it was a Friday morning). I cannot complain about the course but I will never visit again due to the staff. If I could give the staff 0 stars or even lower, I would.
Nice Course
You can't go wrong here. 27 holes makes playing a breeze. The course is pretty flat but can give you some challenges. Fun course for low and high handicaps.
Fairly easy and enjoyable course
Play from the white tees at just over 5900 yards provides sufficient challenges for the average golfer. The course was in good condition, although rough a bit long, which is not surprising in the Spring. Greens were firm and relatively slow for a Monday round. Excellent service at pro shop and in the grille...cheesebrugers are excellent!!
Long Round, Nothing Special
Not a bad experience by any means but really don't think this course was anything special. The pace of play was over 5 hours which was a tad long in my opinion (we had to wait before teeing off at every hole on the second 9).
Some of the greens were neat but it lacked any real memorable holes. If you don't keep it on the fairway the grass is real thick which makes things difficult. There are a couple short par 3s which are always fun if you hit the tee shot right. It probably should've been priced $10-$15 less than the $57 we paid though.
Not bad, just nothing that would make me long to go back here.
Stay out of the Rough
All 9's have interesting and challenging holes. Two complaints though....first, 1 foot off the fairway & you're in 4" of very thick rough on every hole. I accept rough that thick 5-10 yards off, but too penal for a just-miss. Second, tee box grass is a solid 2". Makes it a challenge to set your tee to the desired height.
Otherwise, love the course.
Great Public Course
Limekiln has always been a good place to play; I have not played there in a couple of years but went back and felt at home right away. The layout is fair and the greens are in great shape considering the amount of play they get. I definitely recommend it.
