Apollo Elks Country Club
About
Apollo Elks Country Club, situated just northeast of Pittsburgh, is considered one of the area's must-play golf courses. It has appeal for a wide range of skill levels with a layout that is challenging enough for seasoned golfers but also not too difficult for beginners to approach. There is an interesting mix of holes ranging from reachable par 5s to short, tough par 3s and each hole has a distinct character. The greens are fast and the gently rolling terrain provides some subtle breaks that can be tricky. Bunkering is sparsely but strategically placed along the fairways and greensides. There are also a few water hazards that come into play at Apollo Elks Country Club. The round has plenty to hold your attention but don't forget to stop and admire the beautiful western Pennsylvania scenery.

Well maintained course
The course was in good shape, considering all the rain of the past few weeks. The greens were excellent. We arrived early and were allowed to tee off 1/2 hour before our tee time. We played the whole round with no one in front of us.
singer
the course was in great shape due to the weather western pa has had lately and the greens were in great shape.
Nice course to relax and smack some balls
Course was wet from all the rain this spring but a very sweet course to play on
Wow! Wish I lived close by!
My wife and I had made trip from New Jersey to Pittsburgh to see Chesney concert, decided to play a round of golf. Saw good deal on Golfnow, so booked a tee time. The staff was so friendly. The course was amazing! Greens and tee boxes were excellent, fairways were beautiful and the views were amazing. Membership is $1000 a year, with hunting and fishing privileges, plus for extra $70 you can be an ELK! Saturday and Sunday morning, my wife wanted to go back and play. If I ever make it to the area again, we will definitely play it again.
Elks country club
Great course. They were out of carts so the pro shop manager gave us his personal cart.
Good layout.
Good layout, short holes, long holes, alot of terrain features. $25-$32 is about all i would pay. Greens are nice, not alot of slope. Would recommend, haven't played it in years. I was pleased.
Cute course in the right place
It was a chilly fall day with a threat of rain all day. Course was in good shape except for aeration of the greens. Our group had the course to ourselves the pace was fantastic.
We will be back when you don't need several sweaters.
Great Greens
Nice layout in decent shape for October. The greens are excellent and very true.
An Unplayed good course
Very nice course. Well maintained and in good condition. Clubhouse and cart paths need work but the course is a good layout with some tough holes. Worth the price.
SENIOR REVIEW OF APOLLO ELKS
We are all over 65. We golfed on a Tuesday. Two of the group were first timers. I and another had played it once before. Course was in really good condition. Greens were in great shape....too bad that I putted poorly. Weather was great. Some of the cart paths were a bit rough, but your not supposed to golf on them. I'd golf it again.
Apollo Elks Country Club
It's out in the country, but isn't a "country club". Extremely slow play; we gave up after 16 holes. Will never play it again as it's at best a municipal course and not worth the drive.
Nice layout, nice greens
Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of course for the price. Will play again.
Great value
Course is in great shape. Greens, Tees, Fairways. The course was not crowded at all. If I had one problem which is out of the courses hand was the bugs. WOW they were unbelievably bad.
Apollo 18
Course, was in nice shape, especially the greens. For the price($12/person) could not beat the deal. The golf carts are vintage but get around decent on the rugged, dirt/gravel cart paths. The pro shop/rest rooms could use updated but sufficed.
Fleas/nats appeared on some holes?
Found it highly unusual to see only a few golfers on such a beautiful, sunny, afternoon.
Will go back at this price-you should too!!!
Great value
Our round at the Elks in Apollo was fun. The pace of play was very nice and the course, although one of the shorter layouts I've played, featured some challenging holes and true yardage.
Fun and affordable
The course was fun. Greens were slow but challenging. It got dark before we finished all 18 but still was worth the money. I just started golfing this year and this course was just what I needed. Long par 4s and 5s with challenging par 3s with bunkers and water. Id golf here everyday if I could.
spanky
Course in very nice shape, greens excellent, little problem with the bugs but nothing that off couldn't handle. If you're average length off the tee is 275 or better you might want to play the tips.
Good value but bring lots of bug spray!
We took advantage of one of the hot deal thru Golf Now so I thought we got a lot of value for our money. Course is wide open and was in very good shape for August. We had 3 golfers in our group and we able to play 18 in 3 hours so the pace of play is great. We only saw 2 other groups on the course so it seems to be a great course for beginners. The course played a lot longer than the score card so I think some of the distances must be wrong. I would also bring lots of bug spray. They must not spray at all for bugs on the course like some of the other courses in the Pittsburgh area do. Overall I believe the course is worth the drive for the experience. It was nice to not be rushed on the course.
bring your bug spray
Nice course, excellent shape. Just 10 million gnats flying around your face everywhere. It was like playing in a jungle. They must not spray for bugs. Even with bug spray they were all over us. Course played long after a rain, but the greens and fairways are in great shape. Very inexpensive food and drinks. Great deal, worth the drive.
