Gold at Cedarbrook Golf Course

About
Cedarbrook Golf Club boasts two 18-hole courses, the Gold and the Red. Originally opened in 1962, it was expanded in 1986 by Michael Hurdzan. The Gold Course is the longer of the two courses by more than 500 yards at 6,824 yards from the back tees. It may have more length but water plays less of a prominent role than on the Red Course. There are four holes with water hazards with the most challenging being the par-3 11th, which requires a tricky carry past a lake that wraps around the front of the green. The golf course has several tricky holes but overall it is playable for a variety of skill levels, especially with four different sets of tees. In addition to the two golf courses, Cedarbrook also has a full practice range and several putting and chipping greens.

Great course
I played the Red Course at Cedarbrook a couple weeks ago and knew I wanted to come back and play the gold. Both courses were really well maintained though some improvements were being made to the front around some of the greens leaving a bit of a mess. The gold course was a lot more challenging. It is a really well laid out course that is well suited to a smart golfer as each hole offers a new challenge. As with a lot of Pennsylvania public courses the sand is largely unplayable but luckily that want an issue for me yesterday. I highly recommend this course.
Fun course with plenty of variety
The Gold Course at Cedarbrook is built closer to the highway, and holes 3-7 are across the highway and accessible by a tunnel built underneath for carts to drive through. The front nine is short and has several doglegs and trees, but offers several good holes, including a drivable par-4 with a green surrounded by water. The back nine is significantly longer and more difficult, but is more open and forgiving. The closing hole is like hitting up a volcano. I enjoy the Red Course more, but this one is still worth playing.
Nice course.
We got a great deal through Golf Now. The course was in very good shape except for a couple of the tee boxes. Greens were in great condition. Quick, but very true. hadn't played here in a couple years but will be going back for sure.
Great layout
I thought the layout was incredible. I liked the change in elevation. The greens rolled true. Has long holes short holes uphill holes downhill holes and doglegs. No 2 holes the same. One of the nicest I have played.
Gold course is definitely tougher than red.
Cannot beat the great deal. Course is being maintained well but will get better
The course has 36 holes to choose from.
I like the fact that you can choose from two different courses. Both are well maintained.
Great Course
Course was in great shape. Some of the greens were spotty. Service was great and staff was working hard on course.
Good layout, needs better greens keeper
The layout of the course is the typical hilly track of western PA. I will be back to play again, but on this occasion I feel the couse wasn't ready to be open for the season yet. Non of the tee boxes were cut, the greens were spotty, and the fairways were filled with areas under repair. It was comical to line up a birdie put from 25 feet away and know that your best chance of making it is to hit it straight and pray because there is know telling how the ball will travel thru the damaged green.
I know this is a little harsh, I will be back for the price. I just hope they get the course in better shape. Its a shame to waste a such a nice layout...with the exception of I believe it was #4 that was a complete U shape.
Cedarbrook Golf Club - Gold Course
The staff in the proshop really didn't make me feel like they cared if I was there or not. Also the Gold course greens was aerated not that long ago. It seems as if they didn't feel the holes with sand to help them out. And there was a few of the greens that must have had major damage that was under repair. I do love the GPS on the carts and the different looks on some of the holes.
sweet track...cant wait to play the other 18!!
first time i ever played in pittsburgh in december
Course needs some work.
Greens and sand traps were in poor condition, they need a lot of attention, if the traps are not going to be maintained, they should be eliminated and make them grass bunkers.
greens were bad
`The greens were in terrible condition. The fairways were okay, but there was mud in some of them
Tiny greens in bad shape.
Cash register works but thats about it. Staff seemed like they would rather be anywhere else. Might as well have a machine taking money in the pro shop. Half the greens were in terrible shape. Played the Red course a couple months ago and it was better imo. If you must go play the Red.
