Bethlehem Golf Club - Monocacy Course
About
Bethlehem Golf Club has both a championship course and a nine-hole executive course. The championship Monocracy Course is a demanding layout that will require the use of every club in your bag. Designed by William and Dan Gordon, the course is a local favorite that has a four-star rating from Golf Digest and has been ranked as one of the 100 must-play golf courses in the Philadelphia area. The par-71 layout stretches to just over 7,000 yards from the back tees. The par 3s and par 4s are long, and there are a few reachable par 5s if you can keep it straight. The golf course has a traditional design with narrow, tree-lined fairways. The gently rolling terrain has subtle changes in elevation that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Bethlehem Golf Club's undulating greens require accurate shot placement and they are often protected by strategically placed bunkers

Local Getaway
This course is a nice city-owned course for local players to get away and isn't out of the way. There are two water fountains on the course, which are in need of repair. Two holes border a road but otherwise it feels like you're getting away from it all.
Nice Layout
The course has some challenging holes and length from the back tees. I enjoy hitting approach shots with something other than a wedge. Got behind 2 groups playing at the same pace (slow) so they I guess they didn't realize they were holding-up the rest of the golf course since they were keeping pace with each other. All and all for the first time playing there I would for sure go back again for another round.
this course has not water hazards!
This course has some challenging holes as well as less difficult ones. Pace of play was decent.
Too bad
This could have been a much better review with a little customer service and some amenities available. Both pro shop attendant and starter were rude. They did have a tournament going off after us, so perhaps they were stressed out but it does not justify the behavior. Half way house was not open and there was not water out on the course ANYWHERE. The twosome that joined us stopped inside at the club house to get some food and were told, nothing was prepared, needed to go to the shack, they explained to them it was closed which is why they stopped there. Perhaps a communication breakdown but not having anything available for folks to grab seems foolish. Last, we were approached by a ranger on the 12th hole and told we needed to make sure we kept up with the group in front of us. Snapped back at him to get lost since we were playing our approach shot into the green while the group in front was teeing off? I love the idea of rangers being out pushing the pace but they need to make sure who they send out is not wearing his butt for a hat!
I thought the course condition was good and loved the speed of the greens (fast). It is too bad that a lack of politeness, no available water on the course and a screw up with the food and beverages for the say ruined what could have been the most enjoyable round of the year.
Nice course. Minimal cart paths & sometimes difficult to figure out the next hole location. Of course we managed without extreme difficulty.
Grerat day
course in great shape - 4hr round - great hot deal price - 19th hole very good
Solid golf course
Golf course was in great condition considering all the rain we've had recently.I would definitely play again. No trickery with the layout hit it well score well.
Great course!
Course was in great shape. People I played with said greens were plugged a few weeks ago. Holes were still appearant. Other than that would def want to play this course again. Everything is in front you and it really makes for an enjoyable round. My one recommendation would be to better mark where the next tee boxes are. Most holes it's easily figured out but if I wasn't playing with locals some holes would be tough.
Decent course with some length
A very long course from the tips. Not a lot of challenges. Mostly straightaway shots. No water hazards exist. The bar/restaurant after your round of golf is outstanding and the staff there are second to none ! Highly recommend the funnel cake fries!!!
Enjoyed the Course
Well, I played on a cold day in December and I was the only moron on the course. I enjoyed the round. I did observe a few things while I played. The pace of play could get slow here due to the exiting layout on many holes. The cart paths were bumpy. They may maintenance them when the weather permits.
Good course in that there were a number of holes that were not just bomb the Drive then 7-8 iron in. The greens articulate and are challenging even for the best putter.
The Golf Now price was great. I will try this course in warmer weather.
Great course
The course was challenging and well kept. The issue was the pace of play which was so slow.
An Enjoyabe Round
This course is fun to play. It is not the typical "Gordons" course. This Father and Son team has done several course in PA. and NJ. and this course has large undulating greens. Just a little disappointed that the par 3's are all about the same length. Food is good in the Clubhouse Grill.
Goo as it gets
Want a course that is well maintained, well you found it. Sand, Greens Fairway, rough... all good. Will come back another day.
Municipal gem
Bethlehem Golf Course is in great condition. Perfect greens and great fairways. Keep it out of the rough.
great value from golf now
Course was in great condition, staff were friendly and the 19th hole was packed!
Nice location
Nice location and friendly staff. The course layout and conditions are just so so. The pace of play is very slow - long wait at every hole. Maybe it is just on the weekends.
Still a nice course
Have left the area and come back and Bethlehem Muni (as I remember it called) is still a nice course. The pace of play is always a problem during peak hours and I never see a ranger out on the course. I also never see water dispensers either. I recommend adding both.
Other than that, the greens are great, the fairways are great and the tee boxes good. Would like to see the cart paths smoothed down a bit.
One more thing, the rough is really tough. Best to stay out of the tough rough.
A good test of golf
Although there's no water hazards here, make no mistake, this course is a good, fair test of your game. Plenty of length from the back tees, well cared for, smooth greens. What more could you need?
