Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort & Conference Center
About
Chestnut Ridge Golf Club first opened in 1964 and has since become one of the area's favorites. The club added a second 18-hole golf course, Tom's Run, in 1994. The Chestnut Ridge Course has a classic layout that is the shorter of the two courses. While it may be a bit less difficult, Chestnut Ridge has a playability that will appeal to players of all skill levels. The beautiful mountain views are what make this golf course stand out and there are also plenty of challenges in store including strategically placed bunkers and mature trees along the fairways. The course is also known for it great greens, which provide excellent putting surfaces. The signature hole is the par-4 14th. This risk-reward hole has a green that is not only situated above a lake but also bordered by a rock-faced wall.

Tom's Run is a must play
Loved the course. Conditions are top notch. Two beverage carts out was very nice. Pace of play could've been better, otherwise it was a great
Traps
The only thing that they need to improve are the conditions of many of the sand traps otherwise five star
They need to have breakfast at cafe
Try it, you won't be disappointed
Good course, tough shots if you're not in the fairway. Greens were in great condition.
Great Value
Play Tom's Run for $20, what a great value. Course was in very good shape except for the traps. Appear they were being redone. Fairway were in good shape as were the greens, especially for early spring. Par 3's were fun with some elevation. Played in less than 3 hours in the wind, with no one infromt. Would come back again, especially in warmer weather.
Great course
relatively flat course, close to the mountains so there are great views of the Laurels. Greens were beautiful and receptive after rains the day before. Friendly woman behind counter and we played off before our tee time since it was open. I was in at least 10 sand traps, which were wet, but that's how it goes ;-) relatively open layout where stray drives are still in play. Carts are electric but older model with little room for stuff. I though they had GPS carts in the past here but not now.
not what it used to be
fairways were burned out and the grass was spotty in areas. some greens were poc marked with no or little grass making it difficult to put. Cart paths were terrible when they were paved and dirt and rocks when not paved. It seams to me that Chestnut Ridge is spending their maintenance money on Thoms Run and letting this course get run down. Tees were the worst I have played this year and I have played many dog courses. I expected a lot more fron Chestnut Ridge.
Tom's Run for $30
cant beat the price. pace of play was quick. played from the tips. tee boxes tilted a bit. fairways are in good shape. greens are very hard to read but roll well. very nice course. glad to have finally played it.
Dry Dry Desert
I have played Chestnut Ridge many times in the past, and the conditions have been very good. This time, however, the fairways and greens were hard, dry, and brown in many spots. Chipping around the greens was often like hitting from pavement. The region has had dry weather the past few weeks, but I was still surprised at the conditions at a usually excellent course.
Tom's Run
Tom's Run is in absolutely perfect shape right now and a pleasure to play. Played the course from the blue tees and it's a solid challenge. Conditions could not have been better and the pace of play was outstanding. Great course and it will only get better as fall approaches.
Beautiful area this time of year.
A few of the greens were a little rough as were some tee boxes. Overall a nice course. Courteous staff and a nice pro shop.
Golf course conditions horrible
Tee boxes no grass, greens were horrible to putt on, fairways were hit and miss with grass, all holes were on top of each other almost was hit 3 times from people on other holes. The staff was wonderful that was the only good thing!
3+ hours to play 9 holes as a twosome.
We started off the round off fine and by the third hole we were waiting, waiting, and waking some more. We timed one par 4 and it took us 40 min to play the hole. While waiting we discovered that only three foursomes were ahead of us. We met the ranger and he said he would look into letting us play through, but that did not occur. We finally skipped three holes to get infront of those groups and it took us an hour to play the remaining 7 holes.
As for the conditions, the greens were awful. The fairways were the best part of the course. The back 9 had the better layout. I would play this course again, but the pace of play needs to improve.
Rain
It rained for all 18 holes, sun came out after we were done, but I didnt know if we could have gotten our money back, or rain check, because the course wasnt closed, and we paid our money so we played
Scenic views
Really enjoyed playing this course! Just awesome views of the mountains and countryside! Definitely would suggest this course to anyone who loves golf. The only thing I didn't like was that the ranger caught up with me on hole #2 to make me play with a guy that I didn't know. He said "They were low on golf carts." Yeah doubt it. It wasn't even busy that day. That kind of killed my new golf course "high" real quick. Besides all of that mess it was a breathtaking course.
Horrible Greens
Young lady in pro Shop only positive of the day. After checking in we had to load our bags on a cart, the (2) young guys were more interested in helping the young girls transport carts for Wedding Reception and talking about their late night activities. No starter on tee, no rangers on course, multiple greens had a black mold growing on them. Several greens had damage from golfers slamming putter into them. Multiple sand traps had large flat rocks the size of my palm in them. Twosome behind us drove their cart right up to many of the greens instead of keeping them on the cart path.
We will not return again this year.
beautiful and challenging
One of of the more beautiful courses in western pa and a fun and challenging play especially from the back tees. Was very wet when I played which added to the yardage...maybe my only complaint. It had rained but it was too wet even considering...probably could have called casual water in most fairways
nice facility
I played poorly but will go back, mostly because I believe I could score on this track. The layout is fine but confusing locating tee boxes as the course is mixed in with the Tom's Run course , Tee boxes were okay. Roughs had too many weeds. The greens had many bare spots, but rolled pretty true. The overall facility is one of the best in the area.
Great experience
I had a great experience at this coarse from the time I arrived at the bag drop off, to checking in at the pro shop, to meeting the starter it was all very friendly and professional, and the coarse itself was in great shape. I definitely will be back
Tom's Run
The staff was extremely friendly both in the pro shop and at the start of our round. The course was in excellent condition. We had lunch after our round, and the food and service was exceptional.
Chestnut rIDGE
Course was in nice shape. Friendly staff. Greens were very quick. Had a good time.
I'm not sure if you played Tom's Run but I just played it yesterday and the conditions were absolutely perfect. Greens rolled great, fairways were lush, and the tee boxes were perfect. I doubt that you and I played the same course within a 4 day time frame.
