For the price, I was expecting the course to be in better shape. The course, including parts of the fairways are baked, and in desperate need of water. There is no sand at all in the bunkers, just dirt and rocks.
The course layout is interesting, but needs to be maintained better. Probably will not head back unless it was at a discounted rate.
This course didn't qualify my expectations for the price in early may. I think it was $28 for walking 9. Greens, Fairways, Teeboxes were all pretty poorly maintained. Maybe drainage issue? But then again this was early april an weather was still turning in Rochester, Ny so this probably isn't true with the course in other times during the golf season or more arid seasons rather than April 2015 that was rather wet.
Most challenging course around
I should qualify the Summary Statement. This course, from the Blue tees and from the Tips is LOOOOONG! Hole #4, #10 and #12 are very difficult and for most players, Bogey is not a bad score!
For the amateur player, they have 5 tee boxes of varying difficulty and the course is set up so that a right handed slicer can still score a reasonable score as all of the holes with OB (The entire front 9) are all on the left.
There are a lot of trees to deal with and the greens are slick with subtle breaks. Leaving to ball below the hole is a must or 3 putts are very easy to come by!
The course has a nice patio with simple bar food and a good selection of liquors and beer.
The conditions always seem to be great except for the bunkers. The traps are hard and the sand is shallow, making the fairway bunkers easy to hit out of and the green-side bunkers difficult to hit the ball soft.
