Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Too Many people
We love this course, but they either let too many people out this weekend or have no idea how to move golfers along.
I am not one of these golfers who insist we finish in under 4 hours, but this round took 5 hours and 20 minutes! We asked a ranger to help but they were kids and had no idea how to get people moving.
It was very disappointing.
Other than that, the course is in god shape and the kids running it are nice and friendly.
Greeting
Cool conditions. I was wearing thermal under garment with a stylish sweatshirt and was told that I needed a collared shirt to play golf. I was forced to purchase a $50.00 golf shirt in order to play. I tried to reason with the front desk receptionist but was denied. My wife and I drove over an hour to get to the course and I was out of options. I ended up purchasing a shirt that was too small due to my limited options. Very unreasonable staff person. I am on a limited budget. I doubt that I will be returning to this course in the future. It’s not like I was playing Augusta national. I have played this course for the past 40 years and never been disappointed until now.
Beautiful fall day for golf
The course is in great shape. Love to play here. I gave a three for pase of play due to a twosome in front of us who with open holes ahead of them dragged along standing and watching each shot. When we completed our round, I mention them to the starter. Obvious they missed the chapter in Golf Digest about Ready Play.
Always impressed by condition of greens here. Overall course in good shape. Had misfortune of being behind incredibly slow foursome who held everyone up. 5 hour round. But weather was perfect.
Getting too Pricey
Have loved this course for a few years now.
It isn't too difficult but has several chalenging holes. Many narrow fairways but not crazy.
However, we are not happy with the recent price increases. We were willing to drive 60 miles because of the affordability, but now it is suddenly as costly as courses in NJ.
We will certainly not play as many rounds here if the prices stay this high.
Suddenly pricey
We do like this course. We don't shy away from mountain courses. Lot of blind shots and thin fairways keep you on your game.
But suddenly, over the past month, prices doubled!
If you're going to do that, you need to pay some rangers to chase down the idiot who don't repair fairway divots and green ballmarks.
Have to say, disappointd in the sudden price hike.
Really Fun Course
Great course in the Poconos. Many holes are on the shorter side making it playable for different handicappers. The course was in amazing shape considering we were playing in October. The back nine has some challenging fairways and tricky greens. A lot of fun putts with over 10 ft of break at times.
The layout provided a fun round with many rewarding holes if you hit good approach shots.
Really good value !!!
Pocono Hills PA
Quaint little mountain course. On the short side but challenging due to undulating hills and fairways and many holes are a bit tight and guarded. Staff was super courteous but no warm up area. Super affordable and greens and fairways are in great shape. I wish they would mow the mound on 10 but I guess it’s part of the charm and a brutal penalty if you do t get up. Enjoy ⛳️
Blind shot
A good test if u never been there. A lot of blind shot. Go for it or play it safe like me.
Course was in very good shape. Half the holes are fairly easy. The other half are challenging with narrow fairways.
Great day!
Course was in excellent shape, the weather was great, and there was nobody in front of me for most of my round. Coupled with a great hot deal rate, it couldn’t have been better!
