Pocono Hills Golf Course
About
Surrounded by the Pocono Mountains, the Pocono Hills Golf Course (formerly Fernwood Resort & Country Club) was carefully carved from wooded hillsides. Condos and other residences were later built near the golf course and although they are situated quite close, the round is still enjoyable. The layout is tight with narrow fairways that are lined with trees. The front nine is easier than the back where more dramatic elevation changes come into play. Many of the greens have elevations of over 50 feet, making approach shots a formidable test. There are also a number of tricky doglegs that are practically 90 degree turns. The layout rewards straight, accurate drives and the greens putt fast and true. There are a number of challenging holes, especially the 10th and 14th, but overall Pocono Hills Golf Course is approachable enough for all skill levels.

Great value for the money
I play here when the NJ courses are booked up. The first few holes are pretty ordinary but once you get on the other side of the hill it really opens up. Nice variety of holes and many are scenic. There are several with elevated greens that are a challenge.
The pro shop is a bit shabby and bare, but there’s a good restaurant just behind it for a bite after the round.
Great value
The course is in great shape. Ground free doing an excellent Jon with the course.
Affordable golf
Always come here on Saturday or Sunday to play a round by myself. Majority of the time the pace of play is decent and groups let you play through for the most part. Lots of new people out there playing from the white tees though so if you are a group beware you may get stuck behind a slow foursome. Little suggestion for someone who started playing last year if you can't drive the ball more than 100 yards with out going into the woods or middle of fairway on the hole over play from the reds... Much more enjoyable and you don't hold people up. Two groups were out there struggling Saturday morning was a funny watch lol. Overall course is the cheapest and best in the Poconos, greens are fast and true. Wish they would nuke hole 10 of the face of the earth though.
Nice find in the Poconos
Played for the first time here. Staff were friendly, course was in good condition with a couple of exceptions. Would definitely be back.
not everyone is a pro pal
