Average course with decent restaurant
Mayapple is your average public course. Greens and tees were in pretty good shape for July play. Got a great deal to play 18 with a cart so jumped on it. Made it through 9 before the rain came. Took a break for a bite to eat and then continued playing after the rain broke. Not a lot of people on the course that day ( a Tuesday afternoon) so that was nice. Will play again if I can find another great deal.
Needs work.
Course wasn’t in the best of conditions. I just love when I play at 9am on a Friday and they’re mowing. Tee boxes weren’t set up. Biggest issue, if you want to lose your ball a foot of the fairway. This is where you come to do that. The rough just off the fairway is way to deep.
Don't Miss...
Don't miss the fairways because the 1st cut of rough is very thick. A slightly bad shot will lead to another. Just get it back in fairway
Great course, challenging greens
This is great local course with challenging rough and greens. We enjoy playing here and it’s a bounds that they have a nice bar/ restaurant.
Unenjoyable rough
I have played here in the past and it was never this bad. The rough made it very difficult to find your ball, we spent most of the round looking for balls in areas that should have been easy to find. It was not nice rough grown long either, it was weeds & clover. I will not play here again unless there is a change.
Good early shape
For this early part of the year the course was in good shape.
Wonderful greens
I flew up from Florida to visit my Dad and decided to check out Mayapple. I booked a Hot Deal and was pleasantly surprised at how wonderfully true the greens were. The recent rains from Ian made the rough tough, but the greens were excellent. Pace was acceptable, but slow since I was playing by myself (with my Dad riding in the cart to watch). Definitely worth the money!
Awesome Greens
The greens were in great condition. Pins were tucked away and in challenging spots. We were able to move very quickly and finished up the round in less than 4 hours.
I would recommend Mayapple for a challenging round of golf.
Please mow greens shorter and install/extend cart paths
I like this golf course but the greens need sped up and the cart paths need extended. huge ugly ruts have formed around the minimal cart paths that currently exist and a lot of these are crushed stone. People don’t even want to drive the carts on the stone dirt paths on a dry day because it creates a dust cloud.
Top quality
Every aspect of this course is well cared for and well worth the price. I would play this course everyday if I could.
Cut your rough
Course was in horrendous condition, only positive is the greens were average. Mow your rough, Course was not busy at all (I now understand why), and it was still a 4.5 hour round and 3 hours of it was spent looking for our ball. Would never recommend to anyone, which is a shame because it was a fairly good layout and has potential to be good.
Restaurant is very nice, with friendly staff!
Mayapple
Course is in very nice shape right now, rough is long and makes you want to keep it in the fairway. Short sided myself on a few approaches and paid the price. Greens rolled very nice, tee boxes in nice shape, would definitely go back.
