Dogwood Hills Golf Course
About
Dogwood Hills Golf Course in Claysville is tucked away in the rolling hills of southwestern Pennsylvania. The landscape provides an ideal terrain for golf complete with mature trees and of course plenty of changes in elevation. Be prepared for tricky uneven lies and a few tough blind shots as well. The small, undulating greens and tree-lined fairways demand accuracy and careful course management. You won't find much water on the golf course but you'll hardly miss it with the strategically placed bunkers and rolling contours. Dogwood Hills provides a challenging round for the casual scratch golfer but the forward tees are also great practice for beginners. This hidden gem is one of the most affordable golf courses in the Pittsburgh area.

Lovely day
The course was in very good shape, overall. Greens were top-dressed, so they were slow, but all putts seemed to run at a consistent speed. Lots of short, hilly par 4 holes. 5-6 of the longer, less hilly holes would fit at the "nicest" courses. Some great views from the course high points. The three staff members I talked to couldn't have been nicer. I'll be back!
A changeling course
A perfect sunny Friday afternoon golfing in the picturesque hills of Western Pennsylvania, this well maintained course was ideal.
Although short, it's super challenging with the slopes and fast, curvy greens. We met the friendly owner Will at the turn and had a delightful conversation ,as the course was not crowded and pace of play relaxing.
The price on golf now is reasonable and we will definitely be back
A challenge for short course
Played here a few times this summer. The course grows on you and presents a challenge for the short game … you want to return to tame those undulating, quick greens that have unforgiving runaways if approached from wrong side. Conditions of greens excellent, fairways good, and rough fair. Will, the owner, works hard to keep the course in good playing condition. The views from high on the hills tee boxes are beautiful.
Good course
Just need to cut grass different couldn’t tell fairways for rough was cut all the same but the course is fun to play
Boys Day Out!
This was one of my boys first times out. It was short, but challenging and a lot of fun was had between father and sons. Would recommend to anyone for a fun day out on the course.
Easy course - good value
Only 2 sets of tees and a very short course but the layout wasn't bad with some nice doglegs. LOTS of hills. Greens are small but were in very nice shape (PLEASE fix your ball marks!). The (kinda) fairways and rough were long but that was due to a lot of recent rain. Staff was very nice. This course is in a dry county so they do not sell alcohol but they will allow you to bring a small cooler that fits in the basket on the course. We played the round on a Sunday afternoon in a little over 3 hours and the price was very affordable.
Hilly course, great condition limited hazards!
Shot my best round this year! Short course played the white tees, no need for senior tees. Great condition, greens very challenging!
Played in 4 hours had. Good time!
Hilly Course
Not bad bang for the buck. Short course. A few blind holes. 'Hills' is in the name for a reason. Friendly staff. Reliable golf carts. 17 & 18 were 2 best holes, in my opinion.
As golf should be "FUN"
The coarse is built on the side of the hills. Placement of each shot is crucial. If someone is looking for a coarse away from all the formal details and waiting to just enjoy the game of golf this is it. Will the owner is a hard working guy but a joy to share time and conversation with. I wish I lived closer my wife and I would definitely be members!!!
Great pleasure
You will not find a nicer owner anywhere in gold. Mom and Pop course that is as manacured from tee to green as any I have ever play. Hilly yes bur if you like a little chalange from a short course you found ir. Real bonus is the $1.50 hot dogs. Will is a great guy and i will definitely be back. Once again, stay below the hole or your score will really show you that a short course can be difficult. Quick greens.
Barbara & Bruce Dogwood
Dogwood Hills Golf Course (par 69, 5000 yards) is a hidden jewel in the hills of south west Pennsylvania. The owners Will and Jodi are the friendless folks I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I had called for a tee time and was told by Will the course was wide open. Ten minutes later Will call me back to explain the course details and that it was not a country club but a was fun hilly course to play. I thought his call back was over and above what was required. We then booked out tee time through GolfNow. The course was very hilly which is the reason for the par 69, 5000 yards but the tees, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. We would play this course again when back in the area.
Interesting find
First time playing this course. Short hilly course. Enjoyed the course as a first time player. Great rate, just couldn't pass up the opportunity. I'd play here again.
Short Hilly Course with Good greens
Hills and more hills, this course is shorter (5,000 yds) but challenging due to the hilly terrain and very few level lies. This area hasn't seen rain in over 40 days so the fairways are hard, lots of roll especially with the slope. Greens are great, they roll true. Certain holes have some very impressive views. A fun afternoon!
Great fun
Challenging course. Short yet still need to hit your mark. Greens are small which makes up for the overall shorter length. Staff are remarkable. Always friendly and accommodating. Always an enjoyable experience, what golfing is all about for me.
Not Worth It
Booked a $15 tee time, felt robbed. This course is in pitiful shape. Along with the facilities, and carts, that are poorly maintained. Don't waste your money.
Fun course with a great view.
We had a great time playing here, and hope to return to do it again. Everyone was nice and friendly, and the course was mowed and the greens are super. Well worth the time to check it out. And not to far away from the dog track.
Great value
Hilly but great scenery and staff. Kid/$ friendly.
I'm sorry that you did not enjoy our facility. Would have loved to have spoken with you particularly in regards to the staff friendliness and pace of play. We are limited in our irrigation practice to the greens and tees only. I can assure you that we make every effort to make golfers of all skill levels feel welcome and we hope for a positive experience. The greens are some of the best in the area, though small, but in very good condition. Please let us know how we could have made your experience better. Thanks for your comments.
