Great Place to Play
Oakland Beach is a great course. Enjoyed my round the pro shop staff was outstanding and got me out ahead of a larger group. Everyone was very pleasant and professional. Cant wait to go back.
Nice course
Greeted with a smile at check in, nice fairly new carts, fairways and greens beautiful- rough was high like most courses in the area due to wet conditions making balls in the rough sometimes hard to find. Several greens had so much slope almost unfair . Very nice bar and snack area. Friendly staff. Overall great value!
Perfectly green fairways
The course has a fantastic playing surface from lush fairways to nice quick greens. Challenging greens with tough pin locations. Incredibly Friendly and helpful staff, nice bar and club house. This was my first time here and I will be back as much as possible. The lake town about 2 miles south of the course has some great restaurants and views of Conneaut Lake. Will recommend to friends.
Nice couse
Nice course to play.. The fairways were plush and green and the greens were for the most part very nice. Some had a few dead spots. Overall a great round of golf.
Course In Great Shape
Course was in excellent shape. Cart provided operated well. Pace of play was slow but most golfers playing ahead allowed me to play through as a single. Greens in good shape - not lightning fast but a good speed. Fairways were lush and green and well maintained.
Friendly Course
This is a great course for newbies because it has wide open fareways yet challenging for veteran golfers because of the fast greens. We enjoyed playing here and will be back. There was a tournament going on which had a shotgun start, the staff went out of there way to come out and let us know that play would pick up as soon as they finished as they only had 3 holes to go.
Mowers abound
The following statement is related to mowing practices, not the staff. The grounds crew were friendly, hard working people.
So, went out to a country course for the combination of piece, quiet & fresh air. Left the course with lungs full of gas & diesel fumes & ears wringing from a few hours of being blasted by the sound of LOUD mowers. May well have played a round in downtown Pittsburgh.
Overall condition of course is very good. Although, greens are slow & a bit wavy. If not for mowers smothering the customers, play would have been quite enjoyable.
Great Little Spot
Went out of my way to give this course a shot. I have been to about four courses in the area and this one is arguably my favorite so far. Fairly open course with some big drives possible on the downhill. Some very unique holes: An awesome up hill par 3, a short driveable par 4, and some wide open par 5s. I am not a good golfer by any means but this was a lot of fun. The greens are very fast and unforgiving but that added to the challenge. I will certainly back out. It is by no means a 5 star golf course just because those don't exist around here but it is very high quality for the area.
Feel good about yourself
Good fairways. Slow, but well grassed and consistent greens. The layout is wide open and easy. Hardly and bunkers or dangers. The course is short and the rough is short. They keep it in good shape and the people are friendly. I was expecting more character and water features due to the name and having crossed Pymatuning to get there, but there are none. There are very few trees or anything to frame the holes. The fairways are narrow, but the rough is so short that it does not matter. I will say, the back nine is a little harder and has more elevation changes and doglegs. If the front was more similar to the back, this review would be much different. Great course for beginners and higher handicappers.
Great for the money.
Not a terribly challenging layout. However, the greens We're receptive, rolled true and were decently quick. Pace of play was pretty slow around the par 3s and driveable 4s, but that's everywhere isn't it? They mark yardages oddly, but distances seemed accurate. Overall, it was an enjoyable course with plenty of opportunities to score.
Oakland Beach Golf Course
Friday, June 10, 2016. Course was in excellent shape and the staff was exceptional. Very friendly, accommodating, and even fixed one club my son had a problem with at NO CHARGE. Hot dogs at the turn were good and reasonable and the beer was cold. The three Par 3's are some of the hardest in the tri-county area. Beautiful views and well placed shots make this course fun and deserving of a slope ratting of 121 from the whites. My son and I along with others will be back a few more times before the snow flies this winter. Paul M. Belosh
Challenging
This course is quite a challenge from the back tees. The fairways and greens were very playable just a little rough around the edges. The staff was friendly and our pace of play was great. I would go back.
Course is great
As long as you don't run into some women's league going off the back in the middle of the morning, course is great!
Bargain - Oakland Beach
Couldn't have enjoyed my round more - Course improvements made since I last played. The fairways and greens were excellent. Great value from GolfNow too. Will try to play this course several more times this summer.
Bunker & tee renovations in progress
We've played here before, but rain the day before left the course pretty wet with standing water in some areas. The greens putted true and were fairly quick but the pace of play was awful - it took 4 hours and 50 minutes to complete 18 holes, there was no ranger and the slower groupsst wouldn't let faster players through.... Usually 3 hours & 30 minutes is all it takes to get 18 in here. Walkers are allowed out later in the afternoon.
Not a premium course
This is a course made difficult because of the slope and pin placement of the greens. The pin placement on #17 was ridiculous, on a steep hill about 5 feet from the edge. Personnel were very welcoming. The fairways were open, but lack the quality of bent grass found on better tracks. Tee boxes were scuffed with numerous divots. The greens had many bare spots covered with sand, were hard and would not hold a high pitch shot. The fairways at first cut needed serious weed control, particularly for clover. Overall not a bad course, just not worth more than a 30 minute drive.
Good time
For the poor weather conditions this year, the course was in good shape. The uphill holes play long but are fair. The green on 17 is very challenging.
