A classic Donald Ross design
This is it extremely a nice course to play and the Bent grass fairways and greens were in excellent condition, despite quite a bit of local rain the day prior to our playing. The course from the Tips is only about 6100 yards long, however, the layout is quite challenging with some very interesting holes despite them not being particularly long. The Omni is a first rate resort and it’s certainly not cheap. For the serious player, the lack of a driving range is a serious point. I always hate to take the first tee without warming up for at least a half an hour if not longer. This is difficult given the lack of a driving range. Otherwise, a great course in A1 condition. Very friendly pro shop staff as well as cart attendants.
Always a nice day
Love the setting at Grove Park. It’s historic and I like the Donald Ross design of the course. Is it a short course and good for kids or spouses as well. A little bit pricey for a shorter course but a great setting for golf. Course showed a little wear and tear but I’m guessing that’s from the heat this summer.
Asheville golf tour
This course was on my bucket list to play while visiting the Asheville area and I’m glad I did . Friendly staff, good course conditions, and beautiful scenery.
Omni Grove Park inn golf course
The course wasn’t in great shape for a resort course and I was glad I didn’t pay full price to play. That being said, we enjoyed the round and it was cart path only due to recent rain.
Conditions not great because of recent rain.
The conditions of the course were not up to par due to recent heavy rains. Sand traps were washed out and full of water. Many muddy areas, so cart path only. I would like to play the course again under better conditions.
A Unique North Carolina Experience
A unique North Carolina experience. The staff was super helpful. Helped me celebrate a special birthday complete with a decorative golf cart! The course was in great shape, except for some maintenance going on. Challenging greens, and approach shots were also fun. A little disappointing the 17th was cut short..but the views of the mountains simply can’t be beat! Stayed at the hotel which made it an even better experience, I would definitely return…
Nice classic layout
Awesome experience
Donald Ross did a great job here
overrated
Historical architect, but unimaginative. Many holes look the same. Blind approaches where you can only see the top of the flag but not the green.
Definitely not worth the price, nor the hype
Donald Ross: RIP
Obviously a beautiful setting. Course is extremely overrated. With all respect to D Ross, he was a lazy architect. Innumerable approach shots with only the top of the flag visible. No way to tell where to place shots; would have to have played several times before. Greens were variable, poana dying out. For me, greens were hard to read with vacilations plus hills.
No question the coarse is overpriced, even for the GolfNow deal I got. Will not be going back.
Ok
The tee-boxes were in fairly rough shape, I expected better for the price.
Also, 2 beers and 2 small packages of peanuts for $35 seems to be excessive (purchased off cart wagon at the turn).
But it was a fun historic place to be on a beautiful day and I'll bet the tees will be in great shape this summer.
