Drove the 15th green
Playing 249 yards, the par 3 15th is a beast. I saved the best drive of the day for that hole and hit in on to the back of the green, about 12-15 feet from the hole. Standard 2 putt. Par of the day!! Shot 47-39 with no warmup range time.
I don’t give 5 stars often. But the combination of staff friendliness, course conditions, the basically empty parking lot, the sub 3 hour round I played by myself, and the deal I got makes it 5 stars today.
Course in good shape for as hot as it’s been. The couple bunkers I got into today were tragic, but was able to use the Texas wedge to get out of them. Tee boxes ok. Fairways, solid. Greens were spongy and a lot slower than expected. But we’re very full and lush.
6000 yards from the tips. A lot of peaks and valleys made it more interesting and challenging than most back and forth type tracks. Played on a day of over 100 degree heat index. A lot of trees to find shade and about a dozen gazebos on the course near tee boxes made finding shade and staying cool easy. I did see a couple water fountains, but did not use them as I brought plenty of Gatorade for myself.
Arrowhead is 90+ minutes from my house. That is the only reason I would not come back.
arrowhead showing its age
I have been playing this course off and on for the past 50 yrs. The last time that I played it was app 20 yrs ago since I moved out of the area. Many of the trees need to be either trimmed or removed . The sand traps needed work. The greens were in great shape along with the fairways. My wife and I enjoyed our round of golf at arrowhead and wish the owners all the best.
Arrowhead Red/White
Loved the course. Great day with my two boys. Course was in great shape. Maybe next time you can move the whites further back and the yellow in closer. :-)
Play the hills
A usual PA golf course with many hilly fairways. This was a very short course, but my wife and I had a great time. The staff was very good. The course was well kept and a pretty nice layout. The greens were also in good shape and actually pretty fast on several holes. I would play this course again.
Sour Taste in my mouth
First time there and it will probably be my last. Unaware foursome two groups ahead made play grind to a halt after every single shot. Despite the fact that the course management has made it abundantly clear about pace of play, these gentlemen had no care in the world while taking unlimited mulligans and re-tees. I can understand re-doing a bad shot here or there, but this was egregiously frequent(sometimes multiple times per hole per person). After playing the front nine behind them, I decided to skip back to the now empty front nine. As I pull up to the first tee, I’m met by a single who doesn’t like my presence. I tried to explain the situation on the back nine, but was met with hostile responses about “ruining his day”. Despite trying to negotiate the best way for the both of us to tee off separately, he was adamant I was going to either watch him constantly or slow him up. Ended up only playing nine holes instead of 18.
I have never walked off a course in my life, and I don’t plan to in the future. But when other golfers genuinely dont give a crap about others and ruin the experience, I’ll head home.
Arrowhead Golf
Great value for the course. Very fair with some challenges for seniors and average to below average golfers. Staff was awesome. One of the great things were the hot dogs, grilled, and other choices at the snack bar. Will return with my weekly playing companions.
Hidden Gem
First time playing this course and it was a pleasant surprise. The 6002 yard layout presented itself in a very interesting way with an assortment of holes testing all aspects of the game. Seeing the well defined mower stripes from the tee is not an expected site from a public course. The greens were a bit slow and spongy but should firm up as the season unfolds. For the Hot Deal value, it is hard to beat this course. BTW - you can even cash in your winning lottery scratch offs at the snack bar !!
Secluded and Peaceful Course
have played this course probably 30-40 times in my life. it’s not the best, certainly not the worst. you know what you’re getting here and i always have a great time. it’s a peaceful place back in the woods. my only gripe is that the greens are extremely slow. other than that, love it here and would recommend.
