I always enjoy playing this course. The greens are always in great shape and I always enjoy the layout and variety of the red and yellow courses.
Good course
It's a great little mom and pop spot. Greens are always in good shape, pace of play is where it should be. I love playing here and you can't beat the price.
Horrible Pace
Played at 1230 on a Sunday for $35 you get what you pay for. They stack tee times and second time now playing behind very slow group. The entire course was backed up so it wasn’t entirely the group in fronts fault but they repeatedly would wait for the green to clear to hit approach shots when A) none of their tee shots would go past the front tees B) they literally hit every shot maybe 40 yards. Took 6 hours to play 18
Also apparently no dress code. When I pulled in there was a guy getting out of his cart in jeans and a tee shirt. The other time I played there was a guy on the course playing in Jorts
Fairways and rough was in decent shape. Tee boxes were hairy and apparently no one who plays there fixes ball marks on greens which is sad. They could also use some side of fountain in their lakes as the stench was horrible ending the front nine.
Again you get what you pay for.
Good value, despite slow greens
Positives: Cheap rates. Friendly staff. Fairways and rough in good condition. Newer electric carts. Lots of variety in the layout even if holes 16 and 17 are pretty goofy. Nice rural tree-lined property.
Negatives: Probably the slowest greens I’ve ever played on in 20+ years of golf, though they were in great condition. Gold and red tee boxes were often mowed afterthoughts in the fairways, not level in many cases.
Slow
4-4somes at the the first tee backed up, very slow play. When I went to book it online it said the course was empty.Website should be kept up to date.
Great layout. Bad care.
There is a reason in us called “dead pines” golf course. Very little care. Most of the time you cannot distinguish the fairway from the rough and the greens are sooooo slow!
Return to an old friend
I haven’t played this course in I bet 20 years and I had forgotten how much fun it was. The staff was extremely friendly, the conditions were excellent and the course, at 6000 yards from the tips, plays much longer than you would think.
For a locally family owned golf course with several of the par fours are well over 400 yards and there is a 245 yard par three, it’s a test for any 10+ handicapper. Add to that you start off with two par fives and you have a great opportunity to work out the kinks by the time you go through the rest of the course.
Honestly the only challenge I had were the greens were considerably slower than what I typically play at Turtle Creek or Jeffersonville. But the conditions of the greens were perfect and my putts rarely ever moved off their line.
Interesting layout
Fairways and greens were in good shape. Greens were just way to slow because they aren't cut low enough. They roll true just way to slow. Tee boxes were okay. They were just as hard as a rock. I felt like a little girl (sorry, i had to change my vocabulary because it rhymed with itch) everytime I went to put my tee in the ground.
Pace of play was real slow. What else would you expect, every course or there has clowns that think the world revolves around them.
I'd go back on a weekday if it were closer. Oh, it was supposed to be sunny and 70. Cloudy and gusts of 35 mph or more. Unfortunately No one has control over that.
