Hole #6
Hole #6 is a challenge of a lifetime. If you birdie #6 hole it will make your day!
Beautiful yet challenging
Beautiful views all around course. Challenging but all level of play makes it enjoyable.
Nice day on a lovely course
Teed off late because the group coming off 18, who started on 10, actually stopped for lunch! Go figure! Other than that, we had an enjoyable round and the pace of play was good. The course was in great shape and the greens were outstanding.
Mountain golf
Elevation changes on several holes adds to the joy of playing the course. Other than some wet areas, the course was very playable. Greens were fast and undulating adding to the fun of playing. Golf staff was pleasant and helpful.
Great conditions
What a great course for the money. It’s in great shape and a lot of fun to play.
Top Notch
There are not a lot of good options in the mints, unless you know a member of a high-end club. This place is the bright exception. The conditioning of the course, from tee-to-green and from center of fairway to the cart paths, rivals courses costing three figures. Fun layout with mix of long/short holes. To quote Arnold, “I’ll be back”.
Always Great!
I manage to get up to Boone for a round at Boone Golf Club a time or two each summer. Made it up today for the first time, a little earlier than normal. As always, the course was in fantastic shape tee to green. I will say the greens were a little slower than I expected, but looked and rolled great. The staff is friendly, and the guy in the pro shop remembered me from last year! Usually, on Saturdays tee times are packed out and the pace of play is pretty slow. However, today I managed the 18 holes in slightly less than 4 hours, and while it was plenty busy in front of me, there was no one behind us the entire round.
The greens are generally large and pretty undulating, so you need to be in the right area of the green to make your first putt. And most greens tilt from back to front.
1 is a slight dogleg right par 4. A small creek fronts a large green.
2 is a longer dogleg right. A pretty tough par 4.
3 is the first par 3. Relatively long iron required, and in general the par 3s are tough at Boone!
4 Is a medium length dogleg right par 4. With a good tee shot you have a chance to make a score here.
5 is a medium length dogleg left. Aim just right of the mound on the left for a good angle into the green. The green slopes hard right.
6 Is a long dogleg right par 5. At about 100 yards from the green there is a large pond forcing most of us to play it as a 3 shot hole. The green is huge and slopes steeply front to back. DONT MISS LONG!!! Clubhouse and mountains behind it make a beautiful backdrop.
7 Is a shorter dogleg left par 4 with a small creek on the left. This fairway is really hard for me to hit for some reason.
8 is a long par 3. Not much trouble but long.
9 is a short uphil par 4. The fairway slopes steeply to the left and the green is pretty shallow.
10 is one of the few true mountain holes. A roller coaster of a par 5. The fairway slopes hard left. Anything that lands in the middle of the fairway kicks into the left rough. The layup is a downhill shot, then back uphill to a narrow green with no room to miss on either side. If you are playing the whites, yellows, or red, when you ride up take a look at the tee shot from the blues!
11 is a medium length par 3 to a huge green.
12 is a shot dogleg left. The dogleg is a hard left at about 100 yards out. Less than driver is required here. And you cant miss left.
13 is a medium length slight dogleg left. Aim over the right edge of the bunker. Approach is downhill. Dont go long.
14 is a medium length par 4.
15 is a short par 4 with a creek right in front of green. Again, less than driver for most people.
16 is a medium length par 3 over a waste area.
17 is a long slightly uphill par 5.
18 is a great finishing hole coming out of a chute in the trees downhill to a wide fairway, and then back uphill to a narrow green.
All in all this is one of my favorite places to play anywhere. If I lived in Boone, I would be a member and play here daily!
One of my Favorites
Love coming here to play. Always in good shape. Like the layout. Walkable.
Breezed through on a Tuesday afternoon
Probably a top 5 round of golf in my 35 years of playing! Course was immaculate, weather was perfect and the pace of play was phenomenal! The only negative feeling I’ve ever had about playing Boone is the pace of play, but Tuesday the group in front of us had a 6 hole head start and we never sniffed them. Can’t wait to return!
