Great Course
Even tho it was Cart Path only it was a fun day, beautiful course.
Bone Golf Course ,A Real Gem
Great course. Is fun to play,in great condition.andalthough there was a full tee sheet we had no delays.
Afternoon Delight
Although it rained early, the course remained solid. I teed off @ 4:38 and finished < 3 hours playing alone. The carts have GPS with the course layout on the screen. Also, auto-brakes come in handy on the hills. My favorite course in the area.
Overbooked and slow
Nice layout, very well maintained very good condition. Tee time was 2 pm.
Very disappointing with pace of play and overhearing
from a course employee that the course had been overbooked. Not sure how that happens but it was ridiculously slow having to wait up to 10 minutes upon occasion to tee off at some holes. there were at least 2 fivesomes ahead of us which should never happen. We were unable to finish because of time. GPS last flashed we were 40 mins behind with 4 holes to go. There was not a ranger to be seen to assist.
Boone's in Tune
As good as it gets. Manicured to a tee...Greens are challenging in a good way.
Always a good choice!
Greens today at Boone GC were fantastic!
Fairways is mighty fine shape as well.
Playing golf in the mountains in July is a treat.
Fun track in the NC Moubtains
I try to place this course annually when in the Boone/ Blowing Rock area. The conditions are always excellent. Good smooth greens, nice fairways and an enjoyable track
Nice track
Like the lay out . Tee box, bunkers and green in good shape. Fairways are long and need to be cut.
I've played this a few times now, anytime I come into town. Coming from FL this is so much fun. Course has always been in great condition. They've upgraded their carts with GPS since the last time I played. Definitely a must play if you're in the area. I'll be back next year.
Fun course but bumpy greens
The course was in great shape and it was fun to play on a perfect weather day. Pace of play was outstanding, we didn't wait for more than a minute or so at any time. Starter and staff were very friendly and helpful. The only missing star is that the greens were bumpy but understand they are taking them down to speed them up a bit. Look forward to coming back and playing Boone again.
One of the Best Around
I generally get to Boone once a year during the summer and get a chance to play this course. It is one of my favorites courses that I have been able to play. The staff is always friendly. It is the only public course around so prices are a little higher ($72 on a Saturday). And it’s usually really crowded so the pace isn’t great-but I do think I finished in under 4.5 hours. But the conditions are always really good. Fairways and tees are in great shape. Greens are really really good. Firm and quick. And pretty undulating for the most part. They are a lot of the teeth of the course Bc generally there is a lot of room to hit your ball. The course is flatter than you’d ever expect built in a valley with only a couple of mountainous holes.
Hole 1 is a slight dogleg right. Second shot plays over a creek that slopes pretty hard to the front. You need to be below the pin on most greens on the course.
Hole 2 is a longer dogleg right. Don’t go right or you’ll be blocked out to the green.
3 is a longer par 3 over a natural wet land area with a creek to the left. I think in general the course has a tough set of par 3s.
4 is a good chance at par. A dogleg right medium length par 4 with a generous fairway.
5 is a medium length par 4 dog leg left. Aim your drive over the mound to the left. The green is elevated and really tricky to chip and putt.
6 is a dog leg right par 5. Don’t go right. Unless you hit it really long you’ll have to lay up short of a pretty big pond. There is a large green that slopes steeply from the back. DO NOT GO OVER THE PIN!
7 is a hard dogleg left. I always hook my drive in the left trees. The green is severely undulating and very tricky.
8 is a long par 3. It was playing almost 200 yards today from the white tees.
9 is a narrow uphill short par 4. There is a creek left and hidden in front of the green. Which is very shallow.
10 is a mountain hole. Big downhill tee shot. With an uphill approach to a tight narrow long green. Aim at the right side of the fairway. The fairway slows extremely hard to the left. I hit a great drive down the middle and it kicked left all the way in the trees. Don’t miss left on your approach.
11 is a medium length par 3 with a HUGE green. Check the pin position. It’s important.
12 is a short par 4 that doglegs hard near the end. The green is elevated. But if you drive it straight it’s a good chance to make a par
13 is a medium length par 4 that moves slightly to the left. Aim over the middle of the bunker on the left. You can’t see the green from the tee. The second shot plays downhill. Don’t go long.
14 is a wide open down hill medium length par 4. This is a good chance for par.
15 is a short par 4 with a creek in front of the green that forces a layup off the tee.
16 is a medium length par 3 over a natural waste area to a big sloping green.
17 is a long slightly uphill par 5. It’s pretty wide fairway. But there is a collection area left of the green. Don’t miss there.
18 is a long par 4 finishing hole. The tee shoot is through a chute of trees to a pretty wide fairway. Their is a big pond short and left of the elevated green. The green is pretty hard to hit. And a back hole location is tough.
If you are in the area this is a great course. Plan ahead Bc tee times go fast and go give it a play
