5.5 hour rounds minimum
Called the pro shop cause pace of play was so slow and they told me that their rounds are 5.5 hours. Absolute horrible course and horrible players. Save your money.
The Check-In Guy(looks like an Asian guy) Is Unprofessional and Not Friendly
1. The guy asked me to show him my booking email confirmation, I bet he already had all my booking information in the system, all he needs to do is just asking my name and my tee time. I don’t understand why he made check-in process so complicated. 2. My booking tee time was 12:57pm, the actual tee time I played was at 1:10pm, and he broadcasted my name criticizing me confusing people because I was there waiting and ahead of late players. How can people be confused if you manage to keep players being punctual? We can just tell each other our booked tee times to know who is ahead, who should wait. By the way, I am an Asian as well, i don’t understand why three players with tee time at 2:30pm were pushed ahead of me. After all, why my tee time was postponed without any notice because some other players didn’t show up on time? This was my second time playing here on a Friday afternoon and I noticed the same check-in guy was not friendly the first time.
Pace of play is a critical issue
Currently on the 8th tee box. Waiting for the 2nd group ahead of us to tee off. Going to be at least 10 minutes until we get to hit another shot. It’s a holiday Monday so I understand it’s busy but we had a 10:16am tee time and didn’t get to tee off until 10:40am. Now we’re 2 hours into the round through 7 holes.
Biggest bummer is that the course actually has some fun green designs and elevation. For what you’re paying the conditions are pretty solid. But I haven’t seen one Marshall, not one attempt by the course to keep this from being a 5:30 hr round! Unacceptable. My group is discussing leaving after 9 holes.
Christmas Round
This was my first time playing Santa Anita, and only my 2nd time playing on Christmas day. I was actually surprised to (1) find a course open and (2) find I wasn't the only one looking to play. Unfortunately, we had a threesome in front of us that simply didn't know what they were doing. They would wait on the tee box for the group in front of them to get off the green before teeing off. Then they'd hit it, at maximum, 100 yards either right or left of target. It was painfully slow. Fortunately, they left after 9, so we had 3 holes that were pretty wide open. Still took us 5 1/2 hours to finish our round. Ouch.
The course and the weather was beautiful. If it wasn't for traffic, I would play there more often. Very nice course.
It's an okay course.
Play this course often, but each time the condition has gotten worst. The fairways were wet and some were bare wet dirt We played behind a fivesome, and they were really slow. we waited on almost every hole. In addition, there was a threesome constantly up behind us.
Don’t play here
Course was in terrible condition. Tee box was terrible. Fairway grass was very long, no difference then the rough. The bunker had no sand. Use to be a nice course but unfortunately it has fallen to this terrible condition.
Hurry up and golf
Although it was still a little dark when we teed off I was having fun up until the turn. My group was the first one out and we were on pace for 15 min per hole. As we made the turn someone from the front desk asked us if we could pick up the pace a little. Keep in mind the groups behind us we're barely teeing off on the ninth hole. My friend and I were unable to get drinks and snacks at the snack bar because there was a line and we now felt that we had to pick up the pace. We picked up the pace and I was playing a little more decent then around the 15th hole the Marshall comes around and says you guys got a hundred plus golfers behind you you might want to pick up the pace there's two wide open holes right in front of you. I asked myself if this guy's ever played golf before because of course there's holes open in front of us we were the first group out. Keep in mind we are still making a faster Pace than 15 minutes per hole. Again the group behind us is barely getting to the tee box while we're on the Green. This kind of ruined our day and our round. Had fun for the most part but the staff doesn't know diddly about how to manage the course. Unless you're a speedy golfer or professional that birdies every hole, don't golf here.
Fix your ball marks
I don't know why there are so many people that do not fix their ball marks! Then their the first to complain about conditions.
