Stone Hedge Country Club
About
The Endless Mountains surround Stone Hedge Golf Course in Factoryville, providing a scenic landscape of lush, rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with mature trees. The layout offers a variety of fairways that range from generous and wide-open to narrow and tree-lined. The true, fast greens offer a challenging but fair test. Each hole has a unique character, offering different challenges that include strategically placed bunkers and tricky doglegs. There is also ample water coming into play throughout the golf course. The course starts in a valley surrounded by hills but moves into the woodlands on the back nine. The first nine holes are more forgiving than the latter half of the course. The excellent service and well designed layout have earned Stone Hedge G.C. the reputation of being one of the best golf courses in the Northeast.

Country fun
Great fun. Could only play front nine twice getting ready for Xmas Light Show.
Beautiful course in the fall
Course well maintained with character. Played front nine twice as back closed for Xmas decorations.
Lost its luster, needs major TLC
This use to be the must play public course in the Scranton/Clarks Summit area. Now it's a former shell of itself. The tee boxes are to the point where they're borderline unplayable. They're crowned that severely. The bunkers are virtually unplayable at this point as well. 70+% of them are washed out and filled with rocks. The greens are hit or miss. Sometimes they're in great shape and running fast while other rounds they're hacked up. The cart paths are a complete nightmare. Hole 5 will send you to a local chiropractor. If that doesn't the drive up to #12 will.
They dumped a ton of money into the new clubhouse and let the course go. To be fair, the course had been trending down before the clubhouse was built. Only recently has it gotten to the point where I might not go back at all until improvements are made. Unfortunately that likely isn't going to happen until new ownership is found.
Going Downhill
I'm not sure what's going on at this place but the course is going downhill. The owner should address these the problems before it's too late.
It's a great course but the condition is getting worse and worse.
1) Many of the tee boxes are crowned so badly you can't tee up.
(2)Very little sand in the bunkers. It's like hitting off packed dirt.
3) cart paths are so bad you can't drive on many of them from tee to green.
4) fairways have divot marks and are very thin.
You won't get me to pay more then $30 to play here.
Fun track
Good course has challenging holes. Better to play it with someone who knows it.
Local Gem
Beautiful rolling hills and wide open spaces remind you of the home of golf at this local gem. The grandiose clubhouse sits atop a hill that overlooks the course and greets newcomers as they approach the picturesque countryside of Northeast PA. The course layout is designed well and offers unique challenges to the average golfer. Linksy front 9 and woodsy back 9. Staff was friendly and food was great for a decent price. Homemade crab cakes were dynamite. All around great price for a great round and great food.
Big boy golf course
Fun track! Front side wide open and the back side is tighter than 2 coats of paint. Back side runs through lowlands with forced carries through the marshland. December golf in the northeast is a plus, but we will be returning to play the course in its prime. Great green complexes and the owner made us feel vey welcome. Is you are in the area, it's a must play
Stonehedge
course in poor shape, leaves on greens so bad couldn't even putt, tees are all sloped and in terrible shape, pace of play 5 hours and we left after 16 holes will never play it again
Course review
Amazing course...staff member scolded me for using last minute golf. Very uncomfortable but the course itself was in great shape as always. Play if in the area!
Nice layout
Will recommend to a friend for duck time of year it was cleaned up nice no leaves good putting enjoyed playing
Awesome
Billy the manager starts the fun the minute you walk in the door. The course is meticulously detailed. Although it is fall, there are no leaves the fairways. As for play, the second hole quickly makes you aware of the fact that you're in for a fight. Love the course.
Challenging In a beautiful setting, great value
Very pleased with an early morning round. Course was in good shape for a public course and pace of play was perfect (4 hour round) ona holiday week end no less. Areas for improvement are the sand traps, which can use some tending and getting some more food options early morning. In the offseason, they may also consider leveling off the tee boxes, as the ball can be slightly above or below your feet on a lot of holes. Overall, the course itself is very challenging, with different elevations and tough greens. Its set in the rolling hills of NEPA and very scenic. Staff were great and new clubhouse / restaurant is awesome. Great value overall. Last bit of advice is to bring bug spray for the gnats.
Decent course, great shape
This was my first time playing this course and I was pleased with the value. It was in great shape and the greens were fantastic. There was one quirky hole, number 12, a par 5 where you couldn't hit driver. Also, a minor suggestion would be to make the left side of 12 and 15 a lateral hazard to speed up play. Overall, its a very nice course.
Could play everyday
This course is just a great layout, and would give any level player all they can handle, plays very fair from the white tee's , Green are large and always in good condition, fairways in great shape, and yes, tee boxes need some work, and crowned from years of top dressing, Bunkers need drainage but all considered still one of the best public courses in Northeast Pa.
best of both worlds
this course has the best of both worlds for golfers that like two totally different front and back nines.. the front nine is fairly wide open , yet still challenging and the back nine is narrow and more demanding of an accurate shot. the greens are large and fast and required just the right touch. overall, a great course for the rates we paid. well worth the ride to get there.
The course was decent.
Cart paths are horrendous. Fairways and greens are in good shape. The pace of play was awful. We did more time waiting than playing. We also felt as though we were being rushed due to the group behind us. I doubt I'll be back to this course again.
This course has great features.
Nice mix of Par 3s,4s, and 5s that require all types of shots off the Tee. Plenty of sand all over the course with a limited amount of water. Fairways and greens are nice but the tee boxes are not totally level, a little slopey. Overall good bang for your buck. I would rate Stonehedge an A.
Fivesomes, 3 sets!!!
Had a tee time for 9:56 am on a Sat., prime time, right? Waited forever to tee off and discovered that the problem was that there was 3 fivesomes in front of us. Finally saw a ranger as we got to the 4th tee and I asked "are you aware there are 3 fivesomes in front of us?" He replied "I'm perfectly aware and one of the players is the owner!"
We waited on ever tee box. Some waits were as much as 25 minutes. If I was the owner, I would have recognized the injustice and inconvenience and offered a free round. Not even a free drink was offered.
The course was not in great shape, tee boxes were horrible. I have played this course many times in the past, before the sunk all their funds into the new clubhouse. I used to considered it a treat to play there despite having to travel 3 hours to get there and spend the night.
It is officially off my list!!
