very good Dye layout
Very interesting track, typical Dye course. The course was a little rough around the edges but the
fairways and greens were in fine condition. It was my first time playing the course so it was a little tricky trying to pick a line off the tee. Dye makes you want to hit the tee shot where you shouldn't and
I got tricked a couple of times. Played with a gent on the back 9 who said the course had gone through some ownership changes and very little money was invested in the course. The new owner is bringing the course back but years of not putting money back into the course takes years to fix.
As mentioned in previous reviews, the traps are work in progress with some good and many that need to be redone. $70 is a little steep but deals can be had during the week. Having said that, you are in a resort area, on the weekend, with not many options in the area so it is not unreasonable.
If you are up there I would certainly check it out.
Ran out of gas.
Golf cart ran out of fuel during play. A member went and used their fuel to get me along. This should never happen. Wanted to tell staff but he was overwhelmed..
Great Fathers Day Round
We had three generations of men play a Father’s Day round 2:50 tee time. We were able to tee off a bit early. Their clubhouse burned down so they are making the best they can with a trailer. When our round was over, the makeshift outdoor bar was closed. Wish there was a bit more to offer after the round but it has to be tough without a clubhouse. Staff was excellent. Greens were great. Tee boxes a bit beat up but certainly not bad. A lot of singles we let play through. Surprised so many singles are allowed to play. Will definitely play here again.
Good local
Excellent fairways and greens. Bunkers need work. Good layout and great staff. Fire destroyed the clubhouse and little progress has been made. I’ll go back
Good value at the hot deal price.
Solid layout. Excellent fairways and greens. No holes next to each other. Bunkers terrible, completely unkempt. Should be played as ground under repair. If there were rakes I would have raked my ball into a normal lie. A couple of rough spots but only around the edges, again: fairways and greens were perfect. Pace was good, played through one group, ran into a guy giving his girl a lesson around hole 13 but I was in no rush and the weather was perfect so I hung back and practiced. The yardage is deceiving as one par 3 is 120 yards down hill, the others were in the 180-200 yard range and many of the holes play uphill. Not worth $60 by any stretch but I played for $27 thanks to GolfNow!
USE ALL THE CLUBS IN YOUR BAG
GREAT COURSE... TEE BOXES WERE GOOD, FAIRWAYS WERE CRISP TO HIT OFF OF, AND GREENS WERE SMOOTH & FAST. ONLY DOWNFALL IS THE BUNKERS. NO SAND OR VERY LITTLE SAND IN TRAPS. WE PLAYED AS THE TRAPS BEING GROUND UNDER REPAIR. PULLED THE BALL FROM TRAP & PLAYED IT THAT WAY. IF THEY FIX THE TRAPS, THEY WOULD HAVE A CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE.
Didn't play
Due to the storm the night before and still raining we cancelled
I called the pro shop to schedule for next week and they didn't get back to me we are older and cartpath only doesn't work for us we'll try again
Hamilton review
Other than. The sand traps the course was great. The staff was terrific and it was packed so we played in well under 4 hours.
Was not made aware aa a result of fire, building closed
I would not have played if aware of closed building. Porto John's are not appropriate, people need to wash their hands.
Front nine closed!
Didnt know front nine was closed till we got there. We had to play the back nine twice so I have no idea of the front nine. Would have loved to play the front. I like the 18th very drivable green. Bunkers are terrible, no sand just dirt and weeds. Nothing stood out that was great or memorable.
Nice Course in not so great shape
We had a good round and had a lot of fun, but the cost of $65 (twilight rate) for 18 was a little much for the shape of the course. Specifically it was the bunkers that were in really bad shape. For the most part, they were overgrown with weeds and had small stones and just in bad shape. The speed of play was great, we had no one behind us or in front of us and overall we enjoyed our time.
For $65 it was a little much for a course in poor shape. Also, the clubhouse had a fire earlier in the year and is not available. Also, not the courses fault (I think it was GolfNows), but we made a reservation for Friday and we could not play because there was an event happening that day on the course. GolfNow did not reach out to us and we arrived at the course and could not get out. The manager was very nice, was sorry that we could not get out and gave us the twilight cost for the weekend. That was a nice gesture and the reason we came back the next day.
I think for the shape of the course it should be more like $40-$50, rather than $70. We would play again, but would probably only look for hotdeals option.
Early season
Fairways are beautiful. Perfect to hit off of even this early. Greens are very good as well for early season and I anticipate them being excellent. They do need an aeration I believe. A little hard to hold. Bunkers still need fixing and some of the chipping areas around greens are pretty bare and hard pan. I like the progress. The layout is phenomenal. Every hole is different, interesting and challenging.
