Staff was very friendly & helpful. Course layout kept things interesting. Greens were in good shape except for a few areas. Fairways were not so good with some burned out areas. Overall, excellent value and fun to play.
Worried more about restaurant sales
Played south to west couse. Advertised as new tee boxes in advertising. I didn't see any. Several greens had burn spots all over the greens. All sand traps have not been raked or brushed for a very long time. Numerous traps had weeds and grass growing in them showing they haven't been touched probably since spring. Cart paths are horrendous. All broken up and raised.Very few greens had been cleared of falling leaves making putting ridiculous .After spending over 1 million dollars to build new clubhouse and bar-restaurant-banquet hall, it shows that golf is completely secondary to management. Even though we played at a reduced rate of $22, it wasn't even worth that much. Used to be a very decent course with 27 holes. Not anymore!!!!
Pace a little slower than we would have liked
First time playing. Enjoyed the course. Greens were in good shape but tough to putt due to slope. Pace of play was slower than we would have liked, but not horrible. Would play there again.
Poor course condition
Very rough condition tee to green. Desperate for proper maintenance. Poorly marked. Glad it was cheap, but should have been even less.
Dry
Put all that money in a nice club house how about putting some in the course, WATER the course
A bit DRY, but good fun and a great value.
I love the layout and the price is right.
The greens are in good shape (just a tad bit slow).
But the fairways are dry and a bit too crispy due to lack of watering.
It's a beautiful course, good pace of play, great value and fun. Just be aware the fairways are a bit thin.
A real nice round of golf!
Played on a Tuesday morning and had a real nice time. Friendly staff, nice greens and fairways, 4 hour 10 minute round. And a very fair greens fee too.
I enjoy the layout, would recommend it, and will be back soon
Sprinklers Ruin a Round
i have played South Hills multiple times this year, and have found it to be one of the more challenging courses around, with some narrow fairways and not a single flat green to be found. For multiple reasons, my latest round was one of the least satisfactory that I have every played at South Hills, The sand in the bunkers is usually of medium quality, but today it was NOT good; some was wet and heavy, while other bunkers had a lot of little stones/gravel mixed in with the sand. The most annoying thing about this round was the water sprinklers spraying water on many tee boxes and greens while we were playing. We sometimes had to rush our tee shots or putts in order to avoid the rotating sprinkler soaking us. I realize t hat we are in a drought situation, and that the greens and tee boxes must be watered, but why can that not be done at night time when nobody is playing?
Watering tee boxes and greens while playing
Played 2 back to back days at south hills. Not a good experience the second day. Almost every tee box and green was being watered at the time getting to each. Not only getting wet, but what a distraction. I know we need to keep the course in good shape, and need people to do that. Since we pay to play golf, we should be shown some consideration. Water late evening or at night.
