Course conditions were good, friendly staff, not sure how they can charge a cart fee based on players??? A cart rental is a cart rental…
Dangerous
New golfer here.
Difficult course. That’s ok, but I felt like the holes are crammed together, there were balls flying everywhere, one even hit the clubhouse! Super hilly too.
Not wasting my $$ there again.
rather disappointing
It currently is an 8 hole course, one hole is just a flag in the ground. Some nice holes, some challenging holes, but overall not really good golfing. I walked, some players in carts just drove all over the course playing random holes because some times play was painfully slow.
Great round
I love Abington bc it is local and affordable with golf now. I can golf 2-3 times a week.
Nice course worth a try-more to come
I have seen on GolfNow the coupon for The Abington Club. I aaw available a tee time which would let me finish before predicted rain at noon. The layout is uniquely challenging. Sand traps as large as the green, creek crossings, downhill tee offs which are hard to gauge, This course is "nestled" behind a suburban shopping area and thus the fringes of the course reveal unappealing construction debris, trash, and exposed parking lots. These views take away the idyllic picture we golfers wish to see. Working on this I was told.
BB review
The course is very beat up. The third hole has a terrible temporary green. Tee boxes suck.
I consider the course to be just a practice rather than going to the range.
Good for the hot deal
Paid 15 bucks for the 10AM hot deal on a Wednesday. Well worth it for that. Extremely short course but very hilly you’ll get to use your driver on the last couple of holes. Tee areas rock hard. This is my first time walking. Gave me a good work out with the hills. Greens are in very good condition with the exception of the one hole that everybody else has been mentioning it’s just a circle in the fairway but for 15 bucks I just chip to close and went to the next hole. Fair amount of trees, which was good for shade. Blue tees could make it a little bit more challenging for those who want that. If you want to walk and pay only 15, I recommend giving it a try. FYI carts are available for a $15 rental.
Golf is Golf
Wouldn’t play here again unless I really couldn’t find the opening to play else where.
Check in at the front room forever and when it was done I asked where the first tee was since I’d never been there before and I was told it was up at the top… Great instructions!
There was no starter so a group of 3 people who had already played the course before me (I was told this by the guy mowing the grass) had teed off in front of me when I was supposed to start. At least they moved fast…
Course was ok and for how much you pay it’s not bad. What really made no sense was the fact that there were barely any markings to tell you where to go after finishing each hole. Specific example- finding tee for #3 was a disaster and figuring out where the hole was located, was even worse.
At the end of the day, golf is golf… this is the cheap crappy course you play at a lot to get better when you’re starting out learning, or if you really just don’t care about how nice the course looks…
Good value. Great people.
I play here often because it's affordable and close to home. The course is small, but it has some challenging holes. The two greens with the steep slopes are particularly humbling.
During the season, it is very well kept. Sometimes, in late autumn/early winter, less so. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I wish they had some semblance of a pro shop - no balls, no shirts, no gloves, no tees, not a bottle of water. 🫤 Maybe they've tried it and it didn't work. I will assume they know what they're doing.
If you like playing golf and you don't have to impress your friends or clients with your ability to spend money, Abington Club is the place.
Overpriced
Tried to play a quick 9 this past week with a buddy. Had higher expectations for the price. With a cart it came to $40 per person for only 9 holes in the winter, one of which was under construction and practically unplayable. No pro shop, no cart paths, banged up tee boxes, bumpy greens. No distance markers on the course, or even at the tee boxes for reference. Plenty of other local courses that you can play 18 holes for the same price and have everything that this “club” is missing. Given the conditions and the price, I won’t be coming back.
