Kimberton Golf Club
About
Kimberton Golf Club, which opened in 1962, has stood the test of time. Well known golf course designer George Fazio created a nice mix of holes about 45 minutes northwest of Philadelphia. The golf course isn't overly long and doesn't feature a lot of trouble, but it's long on fun. The signature par-4 third, a dogleg right around woods, is a pretty hole and worth the trip. Kimberton Golf Club is a just good old-fashioned, Philadelphia-style golf course.

Airfares greens
You would think the pro shop would mention that the greens were just airated but no .this made the round not that enjoyable as are groups putts went all over the place. Otherwise pace of play was good under 4 hours and staff was nice.
Like putting on an ice rink
Overall, the course was fine. Open layout, fairways and bunkers maintained well enough. The biggest problem was the greens. I’ve never experienced green complexes that were so unreceptive to any approach shot. Literally nothing was sticking. At first I thought ok maybe the greens were just tough, but then I noticed not a single ball mark on any green. It was like trying to get the ball to stop on hardwood. Sorry, but I shouldn’t have a 20 yard wedge shot roll out 70-80 feet. It’s one thing to be challenging, but this was borderline unfair and just not fun. Clean up the greens and the course would be more than serviceable, just not at the $70 price point.
Sorry to hear the greens were a bit too tough... We pride ourselves on having challenging greens, as it protects the shorter layout of this original Fazio design. Sometimes conditions get away from us however, and we definitely don't want to make the experience too difficult for the enjoyment of the game. Hopefully we'll get you back out again now that everything is starting to grow and the greens won't be Augusta fast!
Good Course
Beats any course in west chester for the value/cost. Fast greens.
Thank you for the great review... We have poured a ton of work into the greens and it's be awesome seeing the results. Love when our players also appreciate the new heightened level of play-ability.
Perfect Day
Easter Sunday on the course…does it get better? Yes -particularly when my wife and I can get through 18 holes in less than 3 hours! Beautiful day, great course, and superior customer service.
Conditions pretty worn
I’d heard pretty good things about the course, it’s certainly pretty wide open for errant shots and flat enough to walk vice ride.
But the tee boxes, greens and fairways were in very rough shape. I’ve played other courses in the area, all of which were in much better condition. I think when courses get below that tipping point of maintenance the golfers just stop doing their part in repairing divots, ball marks and sand areas. So then it spirals further. They need to invest some time and energy into improving the conditions. It didn’t help that some of the fairways were recently aerated (which was not disclosed by hen booking or checking in).
Not worth the money
Having played most courses in the Phxville/Limerick/Gilbertsville /collegeville area….this is one of the worst ones (this and Hickory valley). I golf way too much for my own good but I can honestly say there’s at least 10 better options in this area better than Kimberton. They should charge no more then $45 at peak hours, it’s not worth more than that.
If you’re an avid golfer in our area, I’d consider this an “if nowhere else has good tee times I guess we could do Kimberton” kind of option.
3/10 stars
Sorry to hear you didn't have the experience so many others have had out here. My family and I have poured a ton of money, heart and soul into this original Fazio design. Definitely prefer when people love the layout and the conditions, but also take all experiences into account in order to provide the best playing conditions for everyone. Hopefully you'll consider giving us another shot and hopefully see what so many others are raving about.
Sorry to hear you didn't have the same 5-star experience so many others have been enjoying out here. Hopefully we can get you out again soon and wow you!
