Donald Ross' Mifflin County Masterpiece
A Donald Ross in the middle of Pennsylvania. If this course has the appropriate funding from ownership it would without question be one of the top public golf courses in the state. Challenging course where you can make big numbers but you're also really rewarded for good golf shots and can post a great score. The layout is what you'd expect from a Donald Ross, I'll leave it at that.
The course is underfunded and has had trouble with irrigation but the staff still does an excellent job at keeping the greens rolling really nicely. The grounds crew is getting as much out of the course as they can given the equipment and resources that they have, but the fairways and tee boxes can at times be less than perfect. Certainly nothing to dissuade you from playing the course though.
A good course you could play every day, but if it ever had an ownership outfit capable of providing the resources, this could be one of the best loops in the state. Definitely worth a trip.
