Flatbush
Good price and nice conditions keep me coming back.
Good Course
When I first played Flatbush years ago I didn't like it. It was muddy for days after a rain since it didn't drain well. But lately I have been playing it when it is completely dry and the course is very good. It is also in good shape considering the end of the season. I shot an 88 even though I had an 8 on one par 5.
Great value !
Again, great value. The course was in good shape and a pleasure to play.
Heard that course might be reduced to 9 holes. That would be a shame. Don’t think that I would continue to come if that happened.
Golf course
Course was in good shape but getting ready to turn it into a soccer pled so they will only have the back 9 I would say in about a year but not sure yet .
Pros & cons
Let’s get the worst out of the way. There was hornets on a third of the tee boxes. They didn’t have drinking water around the course, it was 90 degrees out. They had spots for water, though. The carts were extremely dirty. The top back of the seat had built up grime like they never once took a brush to it. Oh and the bags straps wouldn’t tighten well. Maybe it was just the cart I got, but my bags & clubs fell off the back about hole 8. That was good for them. Didn’t mar them at all *sarcasm*. Had to double check the strap every couple holes to make sure it didn’t happen again. Other than that, it wasn’t busy at all. The grass was freshly cut & the greens were in pretty good shape. Guy at the front desk said in about two months they are completely getting rid of the front 9. Hopefully they lower the price for a full round. It was $35 for 18 on a Monday @ 2pm.
Great course
Enjoyed our day at Flatbush. There was a bit of wet weather a few days leading up to our visit as well as the morning of our visit.
For all the wet weather that had come the few days leading up to our visit, the tees, fairways and greens were almost completely dry. They drained very well.
It was my first time at this course and definitely recommend a try. It’s a fairly open course allowing for some flex on errant shots. Staff was friendly and snack bar staff was helpful and quick to keep us going.
Probably only negative aspect was getting swarmed by gnats on a few holes, but probably due to the very wet weather leading up to our visit and humidity when we got there. I don’t blame the maintenance staff, just an unfortunate circumstance of our timing. Highly recommend bringing Off spray or bring thermocell lanterns for cart to help manage the gnats on a couple of tees and greens.
Flatbush is definitely worth the money paid and a great experience for my group of 8 golfers we split into two groups. We had beginners to experienced golfers in our group.
Thank you to the great staff. Will definitely return in the future.
