Diamond in the Rough
I can not say enough good things about this course. I decided to try a new course so came out to golf now to find one that wasn't too pricey in case it wasn't any good. Boy was I shock when I showed up on a pleasant Sunday and the course wasn't overly crowded, the gentleman in the pro shop was very polite and we spoke for about 10-15 minutes, he gave me a brief rundown on the course and where to start and where to pick up after the turn. My son and I tee off and felt like we had the whole course to ourselves, there were some golfers on the course but were spread out nicely as to not play up on anyone or have anyone play up on us. The front was a little longer than the back and did play a little tougher because of that but everything was just in very fine shape. The greens rolled true and we were able to hit shots that would stick the greens nicely. I will be back again and I will be brining friend.
Very Nice Course, But a Little Long for Seniors
I typically play Flatbush 10 - 15 times a year, and it ts one of my favorite local courses. The greens are well kept and the ball rolls true. Fairways are usually in very good condition, and the sand in the bunkers is usually a good consistency. I do have a couple of quibbles. First, there are at least four par 4 holes, perhaps five, on which the shortest tee box is 350 yards or more from the green. Now that I am in my 70's, I don't mind one or two such holes on a course, but four or five is just too many. Also, most of the tee boxes are in good shape, but there are a couple that are in poor condition year after year; that should not be. Fix them.
Made time for 4
Made a time for 4 golfers. 2 adult 2 junior. Guy made a big deal about the littles going along. Said he didn’t have enough carts to let that happen even though I made a time for 4 golfers. Offered to pay for all four times at 49$ which is a travesty for the course condition and the way they let it go after being sold. Horrible business and won’t be having me or the other golfers back. How are you supposed to teach little ones the game if you won’t let them on the course? Hopefully they doze it soon for their stupid sports complex idea but the town won’t let that happen anyway. Been going there for 20 years since it’s close to the house, however there are plenty of mediocre golf courses that will let my son and niece play without making a huge ordeal over it.
Great Conditions With Some Exceptions
I would give this course a better review but. The carts are horrible! Yes they run, but the one I had the strap did not hold my clubs in! I was so angry that my clubs fell off twice before I realized what was happening, so I moved them to the other side. Lucky for me I was part of a 3-some & didn't have anyone riding with me. It would have been Ok if the cart paths were smooth, but that is definitely not the case. They are so rough & bounce you all over the place, so the strap becomes loose & your bag goes flying. I don't think they have been replaced since the course first opened. I was so angry because I have new irons in the bag! I don't know about you, but if I spend $1500 on a set of irons, I would like to take care of them. For god's sake, please repair the cart paths!
As far as the course conditions themselves, they are great. The greens are very receptive & roll very true. They do need to rotate the tee markers a bit more often. There were a few par 3's that had some serious caverns for divot holes!
Great value for the $$$ though. I'll be back .. just maybe this time I'll walk.
Beat shape in years!
After playing Flatbush a number of times over the last 10 years it is in the best shape ever. It is too bad that they are going to do away with nine of the holes for the development of a sports complex if final approval is received. For local golfers Flatbush has always offered a good day of golf at a reasonable price.
