Greens in awesome shape and were aerated 3 weeks ago Photo submitted by vital23byrd on 05/07/2018
Good course, just a few concerns
Overall, it was a good round on a decent course. There were just a few concerns. First, apparently there is a difference in price between what GolfNow quoted for tee times and what the course was actually charging. It would have been a few dollars more at the course. However, the price for walking was a great bargain at just $20. It was $47 to ride. Pace of play was a little slow, at 4 1/2 hours for our round. Additionally, the layout on the front 9 has the holes very close to each other. We had one ball land in our tee box, and another on our green. The bunkers were inconsistent, with different sand in some of the bunkers. And apparently raking the bunkers is too much trouble for most of the players. They were not smooth. Footprints, etc were not raked at all. Lastly, the course had just been aerated, so the greens weren’t great. However, the layout of the course, especially on the back 9, will bring me back.
We enjoy playing this course. It was cart path only the day we played. We are going to play again this Saturday
Like Flatbush Overall, But a Few Holes are Too Long for Seniors
I typically play Flatbush 6 - 12 times every year. At age 69, I play from the senior tees at every course, but my playing partners and I have no qualms about occasionally playing from the ladies tees when we feel that a par 4 hole is so long that we have almost zero chance of reaching the green in two. Overall, I like playing Flatbush., with my one criticism being the length of some of the par 4 holes, especially with winter tee locations. With the ground being mushy, and thus getting little or no roll on driver hits, a good drive for me would travel 160 - 180 yards, depending on the wind direction, the terrain, etc. With winter tee locations, there are multiple par 4 holes of 340 - 365 yards, After a good tee shot, I would be looking at 160 - 220 yards for my second shot, again with very little roll. And, the ladies tees are at the same distance as the senior tees, so we could not move up to shorten the holes. The length of these holes is not as big of a problem when the ground is harder, and a driver shot will roll 20 - 40 - yards beyond its carry, but it can still be a problem for some par 4's that are 360+ y;ards , especially those with doglegs.
Great day
Playing my second home course 2 minutes from my house. As dry as it’s been this summer course was in great shape. Shooting a 75 was a bonus and as always love the layout at Flatbush. Will be back soon.
Great value
First time playing here, overall solid course. Greens were in great condition and most of the fairways were as well, but some dry and dead spots. Tee boxes could use some work. Not too difficult of a course but had challenges. Not the nicest course, but great value and pace of play for a round of golf on a beautiful weekend day.
Tee boxes and golf carts need work but other than that a very enjoyable round. Nice course
