Great day for golf
Overall the course was not that bad, I've played worse and better from what I understand the guys we were paired with live down there and said the course is in a rebuilding stage so they are working with it, as far as the value 55 dollars is way too much to ask for 18 there maybe at the most $30 I played much better courses darn near championship courses for that price in Michigan so for a day out after the NASCAR race it was fine with me and then I drove back to Michigan happy would definitely recommend !!
Challenging layout
The course was not in tip top shape. Needed water. Fairways were dry, Bermuda grass was still brown and some shots hit into the center of the fairways rolled thru to either the rough or the creeks.
Paid senior rate with cart. I would play it again when conditions improve.
Challenging course
I think this course has potential to be very good. From a challenge standpoint it is fun but the conditions of the fairways and the greens are not worth the $45 we paid. Muddy fairways with standing water were plentiful and lots of bouncing on the greens instead of rolling.
Highland Creek is Moving Forward, but Work Still to be Done
As with most other former CT courses, I've avoided playing Highland Creek for quite some time. Recent reviews have talked about how the course is coming back, so I decided I'd give it a try for the $29 twilight rate online. You can tell that the new management is working on improving the course, but it will take some time. Most of the fairways and greens are very, very thin. The fairways were all running very fast, as I got good roll on every tee shot. The only exception was #2 fairway, which may be the lowest point on the course. The greens need more uniform grass growth on them. The slopes on HC greens are too severe for as bumpy as they are currently. You can't get a putt started online and have it hold because of the thinness of the grass. Some teeboxes have had extensive work done to them, while others need more attention. I think the course is going to need another full growing season to get to where it needs to be. They also need to repair/replace steps/walkways to some of the tees and greens. All of the bunkers did have nice, white sand in them. Highland Creek is definitely a work in progress and should improve as the year goes on.
Improved
This couse has had some major improvement from this past summer. This course was in terrible shape but they have repaired many of the bunkers - they were washed out by the unseasonable rain this past summer. Crabgrass was eveywhere, but that is under controll due to the season. They are keeping the grass cut short - greens are fast. The layout of the course is very nice. As long as maintenance of the course continues this will be a course everyone will want to play in the near future. The range balls need replacing!
Bad Shape
Played as a single and flew through the round, 2:15 to play. I am assuming the reason there was nobody there was the condition of the course. Greens need a lot of work. Good value, nice staff but I was disappointed with the course
