nice tract but slow pace of play
First time playing this course. Tees and fairways in very good shape. Most fairways are very wide - too wide in my opinion. Greens still recovering from aeration and sanding but were good. Pace of play was too slow - over 4.5 hours. Par 3s define this course and require good shots to make par or better. Greens are very undulating and will be slick after they grow back in. #14 is a quirky hole, so be ready to hit a big cut off tee to play it. #17 is the signature hole - play right of left fairway bunker off tee and hit crisp approach to narrow entrance to the green surrounded by water. Course is undulating, OK to walk, but there are several lengthy green to next tee gaps, so know that if you are walking. Look forward to playing again.
Ranger Needed!
Nice course, loved open fairways, gave you solid looks at 80% of the greens. The greens were frustrating, inconsistent and not true to line....challenging to say the least. We had a great time with exception of consistent drag from a foursome and threesome in front of us. Could have benefitted from a ranger checking pace of play.
Always good shape
Alwayss enjoy this course but their rack rates are too high for me to drive 45 mins. This time I was able to snag a golfnow deal for $34 on a Saturday at 1230pm. I was prepared for long day but course was basically empty on a perfect weather day. Greens here are always solid. On the quick side but not super slick.
Great course
Loved every part of the course, the 15 holes I got to play. Then rain & thunder kept me from finishing. Will come back & play it again.
Course is in Great Condition!
I've played a lot of courses around Raleigh this year and Pine Hollow is in the best shape of any I have played this year. Every green is consistent and the fairways were excellent.
Lovely track
What a nice surprise this course was. Layout is one of the strong parts of this course, most of the holes were well designed. Tee to green it isn't very long or difficult but the real challenge was the subtle breaks in the greens. Greens seemed a little dry and firm. I would definitely recommend this course
Excellent Course. Best value for the money.
This course was perfect. The price was reasonable, the drive to get there was reasonable. The fairways and greens were well maintained and actually green with grass. The course itself was not very challenging, however I played Tobacco Road last week, so I may still be recovering. The staff was friendly, informative, and helpful. I played 18 with a friend in a cart, and we will be returning.
This may have become my new favorite public course based on its closeness to where I live (Cary), and the overall value for the Price.
Great shape in comparison to others
very firm greens, course was in very good shape. Not the most exciting layout but some really good holes
Quality course for the price
Granted I played on a Monday afternoon by myself so there was no pace of play issue. Not a long course but very nice layout and each hole provides you with a different look. For the most part the course was in good shape. Some brown areas here and there but, what course doesn't. A few of the holes had some resodded areas but they weren't really a factor. The greens were in great shape. Rolled true and fairly quick. I enjoyed the challenge of the subtle breaks that the greens provided. In my opinion, Pine Hollow is a great public course for the price. I look forward to playing it again sometime.
ace on 5
Will be an all time fave after drawing in a 7 iron against the wind over water and a left turn into the hole. Played long and boggy due to rain. Variety of holes and difficulty. A fun track. Greens tricky and hard to hold....then some downhill putts like on 3...hit harder than you think. Nice choice between raleigh and wilmington.
Love this course
Excellent layout, great greens, joy to play.
If in the area make time to play this course.
Pine Hollow review
Pine Hollow is now one my favorite courses. The greens are fast and in exceptional shape. The staff is friendly and helpful. I like the course layout. This is a shot maker course more than a bomber course. Putting your ball in the right place helps your next shot and ultimately a lower score. I wish it was close to my home so I could join. I recommend the course for the money. I think it is an excellent value.
Best greens in the triangle area!
New greens are Verde Bermuda, and they roll about 12 on the meter. roll true and smooth!
This is well maintained course
Played course on cold day only a few groups on course . The course was in excellent condition greens were fast didn't have to rush
WOW what fast greens!
The course is difficult due to the lightning fast greens! Both my playing partner and I three putted more than half the holes.... but we both still agreed these were the best greens we have ever played. Overall course conditions were great! Even the bunkers were perfect with plenty of clean soft sand. I had not played this course in several years and even though I shot a horrific score I had a great time trying to putt the wonderfully fast greens. I look forward to returning soon. My hats off to the folks who manage course conditions at this mature facility.
Pine Hollow
Course was in great shape. The bunkers could use more soft sand, but every thing else was great. The fairways were in great shape. The greens putted true. It took about 4 hours to play. We started on the back, as they were working on the front the 1st part of the morning. I enjoyed my round, Have already booked another round this week. Great prices on Golf Now, under 30.
Be careful on the greens
The course was in excellent condition. Big, wide open fairways. Large greens for the most part. Greens were very fast, which I like, however lots of undulations and some very tough pin placements. Downhill putts were treacherous! My playing partner who has a pretty solid game 3 putted six times. It's a challenging track.
Pine Hollow, in great shape
Course in in great shape, greens are hard and fast.
Excellent Condition
Pine Hollow is in fantastic condition. The fairways are full, rough not too penal and greens are rolling true. Fun layout and challenging from the back tees. Play it before it gets too cold!
A good layout for a golf course
Course gets a lot of play because the course conditions are great.
