Play on Championship Course Today
Course is very nice and in good shape. Fairways and greens are excellent and tees are fine. Traps need raking. It plays evenly and a nice layout with excellent variety of hole architecture and reasonable hazards, very fair.
great condition
Course was in great shape. Greens were smooth and fast.
Very playable
Fast and true greens. A few rough spots on sides of fairways but great course for the money. Played in 4 hours on Labor Day- hard to beat that.
Good Course
Good Course that is in need of a little TLC. Great Fairways and Greens but the Tee Box’s looked like they haven’t been cared for in weeks. Tons of bunkers but they were in great shape. Good layout and challenging. In my opinion there are just too many other courses in the area that are better.
Tanglewood is a must play
Awesome layout with quality greens, fairways and bunkers but tee boxes and areas around the greens had too many weeds. A little more maintenance and this course would be an easy 5 star. Putting in Bermuda greens and changing a couple bad designed holes improved this course.
Long, but Accessible Major Course
Yeah, it's been over 40 years since Tanglewood hosted the PGA Championship, but it's still cool to play where the pros played. The course has Tour length, especially in the par 3's and 5's and is very well protected with bunkers. Honestly though, it's not that difficult with plenty of forgiveness, and the greens aren't impossible.
I would've liked to see the conditions better, but I'm not surprised it was in fair shape given the amount of play this summer and severe rain recently. Definitely worth a play - would love to come back in the fall and in better conditions.
OVERALL: 7.4/10
The course is in great shape. Beautiful condition. Greens are fast & true.
In Good Shape.
Greens were punched a few weeks ago it looks like. They are rolling okay but there are still some unreliable spots.
Fairways & tee boxes in great shape. Rough and outer areas are not well maintained & could use work. There are times were hitting through the rough into the deeper cut was better bc the deeper cut was out of shape and gave you decent position.
Love the new layout though. removal of some of those bunkers definitely speeds up play. 2 of us played uninterrupted in just under 3 hours. Booked the time on GolfNow on a hot deal time with a coupon. If you can make that happen, do it. We both played for like $30 each.
We will be back
Tanglewood Championship Jul 22
The Championship Course was in excellent condition. There were no COVID 19 issues. Noodles were used in the pins and no problems. Sand traps were in great shape even though no rakes provided. This course is worth the drive and is a great value for green fees.
Wonderful round of golf
Truly outstanding course and incredibly reasonable price. Wish I lived close enough to play regularly
Challenging Lies and Plenty of Bunkers - excellent test
This is a challenging but fun course with plenty of sand just about everywhere you'd expect it - excellent sight lines and dramatic 1st tee - It has recently been redone, but this was the first time I played here and it was excellent. Lots of rolling hills and challenging downhill lies. Driving range has one of the best views that I've ever seen, as the clubhouse is set on a hill. Lots of variety but the course feels even longer than it is. Nicely maintained with friendly staff. Snack counter was nice but has more of a hotel or hospitality rather than a 'clubhouse' feel to it - I just got drinks so I can't comment on the food. I look forward to coming back!
Fun golf outing
I enjoyed playing an old favorite local course with my son on his birthday. Greens were in very good shape for mid-summer.
Return to Tanglewood!
Had not played here in many years but did attend the 74 PGA Championship and felt the spirit of the Merry Mex as we played.
