Karakung
Could be a nice course with more up keep. Certainly not bad for the money on a Sunday am. Course rate just right for the conditions
Solid for Value and Practice
I do not play here often however it is a quality course for the price and is challenging for all skill levels. The different elevations are fun to tackle and fairways are usually maintained well. My advice is to play as early as possible. Tee boxes are not great however and you must drive across the main road about 3 times. Still, if you're looking for something inexpensive and a decent course, give it a shot.
Worst course I've ever played in my life
Just to get to the point , this course is trash. Don't waste your money or time. You would probably have more fun playing miniature golf. The tee boxes are solid dirt, fairways are dirt with patches of hay. No yardage markers, no cart paths. Greens had 100 ball marks and some divots... Just all around trash. The Olde Course looks decent and enjoyable but the Karakung is a joke. Save your money and play the olde if anything or go somewhere else.
Lucky to have a good pace of play
This course is pretty attrocious but it played fast because the forecast wasnt good
Good for price
The fairways & greens where in good shape but the Tee boxes where not. On some hole's there was just a dirt patch. Also, I would like to Thank the woman in the Pro Shop for the heads-up on the homeless people on Hole 2. I was with my son & had I not been warned that they there and that they were harmless I might have left.
Not as bad as everyone is making it out to be
This was my first time playing this course and I am somewhat still of a beginner and it was a friendly course. Some of the tee boxes weren't in good condition, but the fairways and greens weren't bad. For a beginner or average player, it is definitely a friendly course. Especially for 23 bucks with a cart, you can't beat that. I would definitely play there again.
Really coming around...
This course is really starting to come around. The entire Cobbs Creek (Olde Course/Karakung) are fantastic plays. They just purchased a new mower for Karakung and fairways are cut out for the first time in years. They are milling/fixing sandtraps and keeping the greens quite nice. The manager over there is fantastic and receptive and is starting to put care into this course. Anyone that plays there now compared to even a year or two ago would be fantastically surprised. Best value around.
Cobb's creek
Course is in terrible shape. Greens roll out like putting on swiss cheese. Tee boxes smell like urinals. Homeless walking all around the course. Won't go back if they paid me.
Karakung not great/not ready;, Olde is better
Have now played both courses at Cobbs Creek. Was VERY PLEASED with the Olde course, but VERY DISAPPOINTED with the Karakung course. The tee boxes were gridded patches of tinder with nothing grown in yet, The grounds were just not ready yet. Granted, at the discounted rate, it was a better bang for the buck, but if I had paid full price, I would have asked for some recourse. Karakung was very disappointed. But again, to Cobbs' credit, the Olde course (where I played 6 days previous to playing Karakung), was EXCELLENT. In both cases, the driving range teebox area is TERRIBLE (gridded seedling patches still growing in). The few sand traps were also just clumps of dirt; balls almost bounce out, nothing has been raked yet (it's only April). You're also in the ghetto, so you have the occasional vagrant walking through the woods or across the fairway without warning. The Cashier mentioned they had hopes for the new greenskeeper, so perhaps time will tell. I wish them luck (especially the super friendy gal, Patti, at the desk). They should have an extra set of hands on deck during the morning rush. That poor girl had to check everyone in AND fetch any and all cafeteria requests.
This course is rough
I'm not from the area, and didn't know what to expect. The layout is good, and could be fun to play. Unfortunately, the fairways are more like rough, the cart paths are sketchy (were there are paths), and the greens are burned out. The carts do appear to be newer. I would not play this course again.
It's not a bad course.
The course isn't bad, just need a lot more up keep. I find that courses that have so many trees are harder to keep clean..
Small greens. A few challenging holes, the rest were odd or below average..
One of the most poorly maintained courses in the region. Poor drainage and I did not always feel safe.
One of the worst courses I've ever played
For the middle of September I try not to be too picky with course conditions however I don't believe this course has much hope at any point in the year. There were only two holes with actual grass. No differentiating cuts for fairways and rough. Tee boxes were covered in water and had no grass. The greens were diseased and by far the worst greens I've ever played on. Highly disappointed. This course has no business charging more than $10 green fees. I will never return.
Not worth the price, even though it's cheap.
I hope you like a disgruntled staff, horrible course conditions (they leave the grass clippings out on the "fairway"), the homeless panhandling for money, people walking their dog on the course, and urban youth stealing your ball. Because thats what you're going to get.
Could be nice . .
This course was in need of some serious attention - the tee boxes were majority dirt and or crab grass - the course has a nice layout but needs some critical attention - for the price I would not go again unless serious work done on T boxes and fairways
Olde Course better than Karakung
I played the Olde Course on Friday and Karakung on Sunday. The Olde course is maintained better. The greens on Karakung are not maintained and the ball does not roll correctly! They are patchy with some type of short weed on them. Only two tee boxes had ball washers and the Tee signs were sticks with number painted on them. many of the fairways did not have 200, 150 or 100 yard markers on them. Play the Olde course only!
Save your money
This course was the most poorly maintained I've ever played on. Greens a tee boxes were decimated, and the fairway was nonexistent.
I'm not sure where the money is going, but it's certainly not back into the course or maintenance.
